Watson Ranch is a hidden gem. This course has lots of character. Part of the course is parkland/links style and the rest winds up, in, and around the surrounding mountains. Numerous water features make for great views and interesting play in the woods part of the course. Small creeks run parallel and across the flat-land holes making strategic shots necessary. Several holes with elevated tees make fun dowwnnn-hill shots to small tight greens, and holes have elevated greens that make your approach shot interesting. Almost every green has undulations, or different tiers to make putting a welcome challenge. In a nut-shell, this course is just plain fun to play. The staff is friendly and accommodating, especially William. The restaurant wasn't open when I was there, but they started up the grill anyway and fixed me a bacon cheese burger that was delicious. They have a great practice area with full driving range, and putting and chipping area. Only 25 minutes away from the Bandon courses, this is a must play course when you are in the area. In fact, I'd say it's as much a destination course as any other Bandon tracks.
