First time playing, I was impressed with the helpful staff and excellent conditions. Definitely a shot makers course with very undulated and multi tier greens. Course is player friendly and really forgiving. Big hitters make this course a pitch and putt

Tee Time Book $40 on Saturday after 10:30. Great deal! My last year review still stands--course in excellent condition from tee to green. Bunkers also in great shape. We played in about 4 hrs. 40 mins. Even though that's still a pretty decent time, Pilgrim's Oak continues to allow twosomes to play one behind the other vs. having them pair up to help with pace of play. We waited every hole, every shot. Unfortunate, because it does detract from the overall experience. Course and staff great, though!

With Tee Time Book, $40 on Saturday after 11:00. First trip this year, and am sure will be up more during the Summer. Course in excellent shape. Tee boxes repaired and green (except a couple taken out of play for resodding and repairs). Fairways in excellent shape. Bunkers in best shape I've seen them and didn't see any pebbles/rocks. Greens were a little inconsistent in speed--some very fast, and some very slow. These greens are extremely challenging with lots of severe slopes, tiering, and undulation. Hard to stick a lot of them, especially #17, #15, #3, #7, and #9. My only complaint today was players who lacked etiquette...we had a twosome whistle to let them play through (we were a foursome and on time), but we let them through. They told us no one behind them, only to find out there was another twosome who had caught up with them and with whom they could have paired up, but clearly didn't want to. They would rather play through us and slow down to a crawl so that we then had to wait for them to hit 2-3 balls on every shot and backed us and two groups behind us up! If I had known that, I would have made them stay behind us! I wish people would learn manners and etiquette, but there's nothing you can do about idiots on the course! The course should force more pairings to make foursomes instead of letting people go out in twosomes one after the other--it would prevent this kind of frustration from happening.

Got a round in before the downpour of rain called for today. Fairways and greens in excellent shape...greens even a little fast. Tee boxes needed work...lacking grass and mostly dirt. Couldn't play out of any bunkers, as they were filled with water and eroded sidewalls (must have had a deluge of rain last night). Overall, in great shape, but the course was packed so ended up being a 5 hr round. $50 rack rate for Saturday morning.

My previous reviews, for the most part, still stand. This is the first trip up in 2015, and the course is still in great shape. Only differences from my other reviews is that there were a few bunkers which had stones in them. Additionally, drop area on #12 (near pond) was trashy--they need to fix that. The greens were excellent--and fast--but some of the pin placements were treacherous (#15 and #16). Greenskeeper must have had a bad night! Didn't have the same experience with the pro shop that the previous reviewer had...quick, efficient, and welcoming. With Tee Time Book, it was $40 on a Saturday after 11:00.

Pro shop was disorganized.
Greens and fairways were very nice.
The rough was so thick and tall, it became five hours of ball hawking in the middle of the course. Should have left after nine holes. It became a waste of time.
Will try again in the fall.

Still in great condition! From tee to green. Pace of play for a Saturday morning was 4 hours. Perfect! I just really like this course and it's worth the drive from the Baltimore area. And, they made cookies inside...nothing like warm oatmeal-raisin cookies on the turn. Yum!!

With Tee Time Book, $40 after 11:00. One of my favorite layouts--no flat lies, and interesting hole designs. Course is always in excellent shape and it was today as well. Lush, green fairways, good sand in bunkers, rough was a tad long and very punishing, and the greens were filled in and a bit inconsistent--some fast, some slow. It poured on #16, so quit after trying to wait it out. Could have finished, though, if the 3 foursomes in front of us understood pace of play. But, great course at great value and always welcoming.

I really like this course. It is in great shape and the staff are friendly and helpful.
There is what seems a small difference on the scorecard from white/blue/black tees. But, the difference on the course is huge. Bring all of your clubs including the ones in the garage or basement. You will need them.
Recommend highly.

Running a special for Labor Day Weekend...$39 w/cart any day (S/S/M). As a result, course was packed this morning and pace was about 4.5 to 4.75 hours. This course is not easy if you can't place the ball--lots of sideway bounces, fair amount of slope to fairways, and several elevation changes. And, the greens are generally crowned with undulation throughout. Have to stick it close to have a chance to 1 or 2 putt...lots of 3 putts if more than 6' from the pin. Unfortunately, the fairways are showing some wear--thin in some places with a bit of dirt showing, but hopefully will not deteriorate any further. If golfers would use the divot mix on the cart to fix the holes they make (there were a lot not repaired), the fairways might hold better. This is really a nice course and only 1 hr. 20 mins. from Baltimore area, so give it a try. They are always running specials so check out their website and get on their email distribution list.

Not convenient to get to this course location.

Special for Mother's Day weekend of $45 w/cart. Course in excellent shape--fairways, tee boxes, greens, and even the rough. The only element questionable were the bunkers, but that was only because of the huge amount of rain overnight. Course drains extremely well--the only fairway really wet was #18, but all the others were not that wet overall. They always keep this course in great shape--the fairways are thick and lush and like carpet...just beautiful! I really like the layout, and they have 5 sets of tees, so take your pick for whatever works for you. Friendly staff--I changed my tee time the day before from an 11:00 Saturday to an early-morning on Saturday to avoid forecasted rain in the afternoon. We had the course almost entirely to ourselves--only saw the twosome in front of us the last three holes. Only 1.5 hours from Baltimore (and go through Port Deposit and stop and eat at Joe's Grog House--great food)!.

Special rate for weekend of $40 w/cart, which is a bargain. The course is in great shape. I would have rated it excellent, except the rough is showing some bare spots throughout the course. Other than that, the fairways and greens are excellent. The fairways are totally green, lush and beautiful. The greens are also in excellent shape and fast. Better off landing short and bouncing up, otherwise you'll roll through and off. The tee boxes were, for the most part, in good shape...only a couple had major divots. Bunkers were in good shape, although some were a little wet. This course is a great value--particularly for $40 on a Saturday morning--because the course is well taken care of and the little touches make a difference. I like this layout a lot, as you have to think through each hole--no level lie anyplace and lots of undulations and slopes. A hidden gem!

Course is in excellent condition. Fairways are completely green, and the greens are as well. These greens are quick and undulating--not a straight putt anywhere (or maybe it was just where I hit my shot). For the continuous days of 95-100 degrees, the course doesn't show much wear. $49 w/cart for a Saturday morning (before 9:30) and they had other specials as well. Get on their email list. I really like this course, but leave your errant shots at home and bring your analytical mind as you'll need to figure out where to place each shot. Staff was excellent--I was a single and they fit me in at 8:04. Worth the 1.5 hr drive...and a little cooler weather north of Baltimore.

Played this course for the first time on a Saturday morning. I generally avoid weekends like the plague, but I have never played here before so I jumped at the chance. The course was in great shape. A couple tee boxes (10 and I think 13) were slightly uneven, but other than that no complaints at all. Very challenging course overall. Great pace of play as well, had zero issues with that which is what I am scared of playing on the weekends. If you live in the area this is a great course to play, not too expensive either all things considered. I can't wait to play here again!

Pilgrim's Oak was in excellent condition--from tee box to green. The tee boxes were in good shape (although they were repairing some boxes, so had the normal placement moved). The fairways were completely green, lush, and cut nicely. The rough is full and thick, so stay in the fairway. The greens are wicked fast! They are hard to stick, so a better strategy is bounce in front and roll up. Beware of the #15 and #16 greens--they are difficult to hold and the ball will roll backward off the green if not positioned exactly right. The staff is welcoming. My only complaint is the pace of play--although still 4.5 hours, we waited on every tee box due to a couple of really slow foursomes. The marshall was working it, but they slowed down the entire course. It was a beautiful day, though, and the course was in great condition, so it was a good round. Pilgrim's Oak is worth the drive to southern PA. $45 w/cart on a Saturday morning--you can't beat it.

Course was in good condition despite the lack of rain. The front nine is wide open with rolling hills and the back nine really tightens up. Greens were in good condition as were the fairways. No problems with the tee boxes. Pace of play was terrible and the marshal did not appear to be forcing slow groups to speed up. No beverage/food cart was a disappointment. If the pace was at least average, I would highly recommend this course.

First time at Pilgrims Oak. The course was in great condition. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Greens are firm and the ball rolled well. Fairways are very nice. The tee boxes are spaced very well but show some wear from plenty of play.
The course is a mix of easy holes and smart play holes. Lots of elevation changes but not too extreme.
This course does a lot of little things that you don't see at other public courses. Examples: 1. Water bottles iced down in coolers on the course with an honor system paybox. 2. They repair and rope off the high traffic areas around tee boxes and cart path corners. No dirt patches. See for yourself.
I recommend this course and will play again.

OK, i literally wrote a novel on how much i loved this course! I had a hard time deciding what to put in so i'll break it down like this: go to their website, book a time online over their site since you get a very good deal ($29 W/CART ON A FRIDAY!) go play, you'll be hooked. The pre round practice area, putting green, chipping area, driving range, were in great shape and the course itself was in fantastic shape. If you like a challenge play this course, it has hills but nothing you'll be cursing and the greens were in fantastic shape but never a flat spot. Very different from where i normally play but i loved it. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you make the drive. I will be going back very soon and by the way, i played like crap and while most people would hate the course and couldn't wait to leave, i was trying like hell to get my playing partner to go again! That should say something. CIAO

My first favorable impression of Pilgrim's Oak came when I made the tee time. We were told right then (without having to ask) that the greens had been aerated and sanded. To me that was refreshing because most courses will not tell you this unless you ask. When we got there the staff was very friendly and professional. We got out 30 min. early and the course is extremely nice. The teeboxes and fairways were in great shape. the greens were actually not in bad shape. They had been swept which made them better than we expected. This course is visually beautiful. I guess it would be considered a links style course. It would be tough to walk because there are a lot of elevation changes. Fairways are fairly wide and most greens are huge with tiers. Get above the hole on most of these greens and you will have a tough time stopping the ball near the hole. Sunday pin placements so most of the pins wer on the bottom side of the greens. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and the course. I will be looking forward to playing again soon. Cost was $45.00 with cart. Great Course! Only drawback I can find is that there is no alchohol on Sundays.

Once again it was a joy to play this course. Conditions were excellent and the $29 price was nice. The only minor fault that I found was the fact that the the fairway yardages were sparsely marked other than the 100, 150, and 200 center of the fairway markers. Only a few of the sprinkler heads had yardages. Staff was great as they have always been when I go up here.

This course is a true gem for the price. From the time I showed up til the end of the round, the staff could not have been more friendly. Took me about an hour and a half to get there from Baltimore but its a beautiful drive through farmland and the views from the course were great. A must play in PA

In my opinion, this is one of the best courses in the Baltimore area. It is in near perfect condition and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Greens were medium fast today, but true. Sand in traps was a little wet but playable. Fairways were perfect, although the tees and the rough (near cart path) showed some signs of wear. I highly recommend this course for pleasant but challenging round.

Course is in good shape and has greened up nicely. This is one of my favorite courses in the area and it impressed me again today. Several traps had drainage problems but rough and fairways are in great shape. Some greens are still a little sandy from recent aeration but were generally fast and tricky but true. Snack bar self service with limited selection.

Pilgrim's Oak was in great shape for so early in the season. They must have just put top dressing sand on the greens as they were very sandy and hard to read. Fairways and the rest of the course were very good. Very nice club house staff.
