I have always liked the layout of this course, and the tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in excellent condition. I've already played 79 rounds this year, and these greens are easily the best I've played this year! They were excellent...nice pace, very consistent roll, and readable. I had 11 putts on the front and 16 on the back! The fairways were lush, but mowed to a nice length...as was the rough. It was not too punishing, but did require you to think through how you wanted to hit the ball to make the shot you wanted. Finally, the pace of play was EXCELLENT! We played on a Saturday in under 4 hrs. The marshal was riding around the course--we saw him often. The foursome in front of us started out slow (with at least one hole open in front of them). By #5, they were moving out and we never waited again. Kudos to the staff for managing the course! Overall, course in super condition and the $42 rack rate was a great value!

Pro's: course in excellent shape. Fairways green, lush, and few divots. Greens filled in completely, but a tad fast (which surprised me). Staff very welcoming, especially the beverage lady. Con's: Took 5 hrs 20 mins to complete round. Waited on every hole, and had a very rude threesome continuously drive right up to the tee to wait while you're trying to tee off. Clearly, don't know how to be courteous to other players...should have stayed back until the tee cleared and then driven up. They really need to manage the pace better--I won't be back any time soon. Just not fun when you wait on every hole, have rude people interrupting your swing, and then hit down into you (missed me by a foot). Maybe during the week is better, but too many courses around that manage tee sheet better. My overall rating is low because of the pace of play.

Course was in very good shape. Greens, fairways, and rough were manicured and green.
Some of the tee boxes are sloped or crowned but good overall. The bathrooms are nasty and smell of sewer gas. Pro shop is small and has the essentials. I don't think they have a snack cart.
New drainage installed last year seems to be working well. Very playable after heavy rains.
Overall a great course with a very friendly staff. Has a true island green.
Rarely will Quail Valley disappoint you. Consistently a good value. Will play again soon.

I am only going to write one review about this course this year. why you ask. I don't want all you hackers out there jambing up this great course. we played in late march the greens had been punched but still in great shape. The course layout is great some hard holes and easy ones too. One day i am going to par the 5th hole looks so easy but tough i guess thats why is the hardest on the course. a lot of work has been done to this course over the last two years, new traps, traps removed, drainage put in fairways. Just a great course for the money. oh yea did i say the staff at Quail is second to none.will play many time this year BUT remember no more reviews. Sorry Quail

I was not sure what to expect when we arrived. The pro shop is in what looks to be a barn. We went in and the staff was fairly pleasant. We could tell by the number of cars in the parking lot that they definitely overbooked tee times so a slow round was expected. We got around in 5 hours 15 minutes. The group in front of us was extremely slow, with an entire hole open in front of them. A ranger came around a few times but never stopped to ask them to pick up the pace. We had to wait before hitting every shot. This would be the biggest complaint.

Conditions were surprisingly good based on the dry summer we have had in the area. Tee boxes were rough looking and somewhat uneven but I have played on much worse. The fairways were in great condition with minor brown spots. Overall, the fairways are some of the best I have seen in the last 2 months. The greens were the worst part of the course. They were green and they had a little bit of pace to them. However, they were somewhat inconsistent in pace. I also do not think anyone knows how to repair ball marks at this course because they were all over the greens. Most repairs that were made were very poor with dirt pried above the grass surface. Overall, they were average but I had hoped for more with the condition of the fairways being what they were. Bunkers were very firm and about half of them had puddles of water in them. Mud pits they were. Overall, the course was in decent, playable shape.

The layout is good. The front 9 places a premium on a straight tee shot with trees lining narrow fairways. You cannot pull driver on every hole. It is a shot makers front 9. The back 9 opens up a bit and allows you to pull driver. The par 5s were good with all but 1 allowing you to go for it in 2 if you hit a good tee shot. There was also a good mix of par 4s. Some were fairly long and could be challenging without a solid tee shot. Par 3s had a good mix of distances. They were also quite scenic with water coming into play on 3 of them. The layout was definitely above average.

Overall, Quail Valley was worth playing. It will get another visit in the future. I recommend a trip but would advise to do it in the morning or late afternoon because of pace of play.

Only update from last month is that the rough is beginning to brown (understandable with the heat), and there are some brown spots on a couple of fairways. All in all, though, this course is still maintained very nicely and in good shape. I was a walk-on, got out right away, and played in 4 hrs. The staff is always accommodating. Great deal at $25 w/Tee Time Book during the week.

The course is in excellent shape from tee to green. Even the rough is in great shape...looks like a lawn! The only work that needs to be done are on some (not all) of the bunkers--the sand is shallow (hard pan underneath) and there are a fair amount of stones. But, I have to say this course is in excellent shape! The fairways have thick green grass and it was nicely mowed. The greeens were hard and unbelievably fast! I 4-putted the first green because I couldn't believe they were that fast. I got the feel on the next green, though. With the Tee Time Book, I paid $17 with a cart. What a deal! This course is not overly challenging and there isn't a lot of trouble, but it is a nice, enjoyable layout. Just over the MD line in Littlestown, PA, it is worth the drive.

Quail Valley is easily the best value course I've played this year. Not the cheapest, but quality for the price paid is excellent.
You have to look pretty hard to find any negatives at this course. The 12th fairway will not drain. There is an unplayable area in the middle of the fairway. But, it is marked as such. Tee boxes are pretty good with some that are sloped and colored markers are sometimes placed on the slopes. Slow play can be an issue here.
Greens and fairways are excellent. Rough has been maintained and is very playable. They maintain a nice "second cut" around the greens. Staff is friendly and actually appear happy that you are there. Four hours and fifteen minutes on a Monday morning.
Layout is somewhat generic with one island green. Course is short from the white tees, move back to compare to most par 72's.
I recommend this course and I will play again

With Tee Time Book, $25 w/cart during the week. The course is in great shape--fairways, tee boxes, and greens all green and well manicured. They were aerating #6, #8, and #9 fairways, but still lots of grass to work with. The greens were very fast--I was surprised how fast the greens were rolling. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating, and it's relatively easy to get on. I called 6:00 the night before and was able to play at 9:20 the next day. They worked us in. Great course.

We played Quail Valley on Sunday morning. We were quoted $42 when we made tee time but only payed $32 at course. we arrived about an hour early and were told that we could go out right away. As for the course itself, the fairways were in great shape. Some of the greens had just been aerated and had lots of sand. (I imagine this is the reason for the price break) The teeboxes were in fair shape. They are reworking some of the ponds on the course so there are some areas where there is ground under repair. I can imagine that once the greens comeback ,this will be a very enjoyable course to play. It is a very nice course and the pro shop staff is friendly. The lady behind the bar was a little up tight but I'll just chalk that up to her having a bad day. All in all it was a very pleasant experience on a very nice golf course.
