Rolling Hills Golf Club of Aberdeen, SD

My brother is a member of this club and could have played with him for free, but I chose to pay my way. The course ran beautifully. The only exception was a patch of rough just off the lake/pond on hole 5. It was more of a mud pit. It was a solid 5-10 feet from the lake/pond itself and was half-way to the fairway, but it was just a 6 inch pit that was muddy and had slope towards it. Other than that the course was well groomed and played well. It was a busy day, but the speed and courtesy of the golfers was great. We played through twice, once an couple of elderly gentlemen that my brother knew, and again on a single guy who seemed to have some really bad slice issues. I didn't have much contact with the staff, but they seemed courteous and polite. Good course and very nice when the price is considered.

Bridges at Beresford of Beresford, SD

The Bridges at Beresford is currently a nine hole golf course with plans to expand it to an 18 hole course in the future. We played the 9 twice to get our full round in. The course is definitely tough, with many water hazards and appropriately place bunkers. The forced carries on one and two will make you swing for the fences. The course was in really great shape, and the greens were fast. Can't wait until they expand the course to 18.

Cattail Crossing Golf Course of Watertown, SD

Cattail Crossing is a nice municipal course with 27 holes, grass driving range and large practice area. The course was in pretty good shape, the grass in the tee boxes were a little long, but still serviceable. The fairways for the most part were in good shape, however the rough was burnt out in places. The greens were in good shape. Overall the course layout is fairly straight forward and the course is overall not too challenging. Definitely a good course for beginners.

Prairie Green Golf Course of Sioux Falls, SD

First time playing golf in South Dakota and I definitely did not expect the brutal winds that we were up against. There were sustained 20MPH winds and much stronger wind gusts through pretty much the whole round. With that said, the course was in great shape. We played from the blue tees which made the course about 6600 yards.

Every hole was a challenge (even without the wind), you had to use pretty much all of your clubs to get through the round. I really enjoyed the different looks and layouts throughout the round. The greens were in great shape and rolled true. The tee boxes were clean and well manicured and the fairways were in great shape. Would have loved to see the cart girl before the 16th hole, but hey it was a Tuesday during the day. Prairie Green is a great course and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area.

Hart Ranch Golf Club of Rapid City, SD

Very good course with some elevation change and nice scenery. Greens were very good, fast and consistent. Fairways were lush with few weeds or bare spots. I highly recommend this course even at this price.

Meadowbrook Golf Course of Rapid City, SD

Very basic in design, not much imagination to the layout. Greens were relatively good condition but very slow and inconsistent. Fairways were marginal with inconsistent grass, quite a bit of weeds and some bare spots. I expect more for my money than what they offer. Try another local course.
