First, the pro's. The course is in great shape with lush fairways, tee boxes, and first cut. The bunkers were also full of nice sand. The con's were mostly the thick rough where the ball sinks to the bottom so it is both hard to find and hard to hit; and, secondly, the greens were unfair. You couldn't stick the green--everything rolled off, even when you hit it or hit in front and rolled up...it rolled off! The round ended up taking over 5 hrs and it wasn't because we were waiting for anyone--it was because of the tough putting conditions on the greens...3 and 4 putts normal. I've played this course a lot over the years, but have never experienced play as brutal and unfair as today. I don't think I'll come back anytime soon. Beautiful course, but beware! It's just not fun when the fairways and greens won't hold the shots. (We had 10, 12 and 15 handicaps in our group, and we certainly couldn't play to those given the conditions.)

$39.95 w/cart and lunch! What a deal! I booked two tee times and we went off a little before time and finished at a nice pace. After 5 straight days of rain, I was surprised how dry this course was. Of course, you had some muddy spots on the edges of the cart paths and at the parking spots around the green; but the fairways had pretty well drained. There was only one I saw which was a little wet...and they allowed us to drive all over the course. The fairways are absolutely beautiful--like carpet. Lush, green, and completely filled in. The rough was long, but that was to be expected due to the inability to cut. The only complaint was the bunkers, which had side erosion and were unraked but overall the course was in excellent shape. Kudos to the Super and his team. Great price for great conditions on a very challenging layout.

Haven't played the course in a while, and it is in great shape. The fairways are like carpet, and tee boxes and greens also in great shape. The greens, though, are extremely hard and fast. Better to bounce up than try to hit and stay on. The rough is thick and punishing, so avoid at all costs. Staff very nice and helpful. Round took 5 hrs, but only because of the slow foursome in front of us--no one in front of them and no marshall patrolling. But, beautiful day. And, by the way, lunch was included with the $48 cost. Great layout, with some difficult holes with tough carries (#9 and #18). If you like a challenge, Little Bennett is a great course!

$35 after $12 with unlimited holes and a free lunch...and all the stinkbugs you could ever want :) ("here, take some home with you" :) LB is a good course though not easy not at all. Be prepared to blow-out your handicap and lose a sleeve of balls. It's very vertical and has quite a few blind shots and uphill and downhill greens, sloping fairways, tee-shots over water, you name it, this course has it. But it's a good challenge and a fairly-attractive course, just not "country-club" level like I few public courses that I can think of in the DC area. A decent parks course, a little pricey but they have a good kitchen and overall you'll have played a course that you can brag about to your buddies.

The greens are mostly green - except #6 which is is very bad shape - but for many of the greens the poa annua has intruded to the point where the greens are mottled-looking and very uneven. To be fair, some greens are in excellent shape, but some need work. Fairways and tee boxes in good shape. Pace of play today was good. This course may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's a definite step up from your typical muni.

Not a layout for the faint of heart, or the golfer who can't handle forced carries. Both #9 and #18 require intimidating approach shots over ravines, and it is impossible to get closer than about 150 yards. Fortunately in both cases the greens are large and receptive. There are other holes where bump-and-run golf just won't work, so hackers should steer clear.

In the past this course has had slick greens which were very very tough. They've let the greens grow a bit - probably because they lost some of them due to the heat last summer - so they aren't as fast any more. Still pretty good, but not up to the standards of the various upscale publics in the area.

Marshalls were not in evidence - neither was the starter when we teed off at 2:20 - so our round was a bit on the slow side at 4:40. Maybe that's to be expected on a Saturday afternoon at a fairly inexpensive course, but it still makes me wish we had a golfer education program or something like they do in Germany, where you actually have to pass a test in order to be allowed on a golf course.

It was interesting to me that they've swapped front and back nines since the last time I was here. Don't know why, and personally I preferred it the other way. But #9 and #18 are similar type holes so either one makes for a good way to finish a round, especially if a friendly wager is on the line.

Anyway, for a muni this is course a good value with an unusual layout. Worth a visit if your game is up to the challenge.

I have such mixed feelings about Little Bennett, some holes are so chintzy that it bugs you to no end (a 115 par 3 with a 2 club elevation drop), while others are perfectly (relatively, for a muni) crafted holes.

The recent rain helped green up the rough, the fairways are in great shape, but basically each par 3's green has bare patches and burnout.

Unfortunately we were stuck behind some walkers at a 4:10 Saturday afternoon tee time, so pace of play was slow at this particular date, but my experience is that it usually moves along pretty well.

Other Notes:

- Local kids working the course were friendly and chatty.
- Forces every shot in the book; plenty of doglegs left and right (ever play that course that just constantly seems to favor the shot you can't hit? This isn't it)
- There are deer everywhere. Everywhere.

My first time on this course and I think it is great. It is very challenging but not gimmicky. The facility and staff is to notch. Greens and traps are excellent. Fairways are a little dry in spots because of the hot weather recently. Greens keepers are manually watering greens during the hottest periods of the day to keep them fresh. Free breakfast and lunch come with the $30 weekday senior rate. I will fo back.

Played a 2-person tournament. Hadn't played the course in a couple of years and I was amazed. The course was in excellent condition--fairways and greens well manicured, and the staff was inviting and helpful. They reversed the nines, and it seemed to play at a good pace. Great course to play!

first time playing this course but it was a lot of fun to play. It's in good shape and is set in some very nice country side. With all the blind shots though it can make for some slow play or players hitting into the group in front of them.

Little Bennett aerated the greens last week and they were still very unputtable. The fairway was in good to very good shape and the rough was much like every Fall there...very thick and long. This is one of the hardest courses in the area that is under $50. If you are looking for a very difficult but FAIR course that will not break the bank this is it. Give it another week and go play it.

This is a great course at a great price point. Lb is a fairly difficult track, but if you have good distance off the tee and are able to work the ball, it's not overly difficult.

The real trouble begins on the greens. They are fast and undulating to a fault. Number four plays like mini golf--the left pin placement is Totally unacceptable. Avoid this course on hot, dry days... The greens play great in the spring--not so much during the summer.

Perhaps it's due to great drainage... The fairways are always a bit dry too.

Overall a great course, but be wary!

The course was in great shape. I was surprised considering the lack of rain. The greens were running fast, but true. I played in the morning on a Monday and paid $42. Very good deal for such a challenging course. The only problem I had was it was close to a 5 hour round....on a Monday.

Surprisingly Little Bennett was only a 40 minute drive from Baltimore. After a TON of rain this week, I expected a cart paths only round, however that was not the case. The course must drain very well since it was relatively dry. The conditions were excellent, fairways were perfect, the greens were quick and rolled true and the tee boxes were also in great shape. Make sure you come mentally prepared to play this course, because one shot off the fairway will hurt your score. The rough was super thick and really difficult to hit out of. All around a great course that I will definitely visit again.

What a course! One of the hardest courses I've ever played. The rough was by far the longest and thickest I've ever played. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were great.

The course has an amazing layout. I am partial to the hilly terrain. Unfortunately, two of their par 3s were closed. After driving by them, they may have been two of the best holes on the course. They also have a great practice facility. I look forward to going back.

The fairway and rough were in great shape, but the greens were so fast that it became overly frustrating for all players in my group, which included several very good players. Also, the speed of play should be better managed. We had six hour plus round.

I play Lil' B a bunch and it has never been harder than it is right now. They had a national qualifier there a couple of weeks ago. Ever since the greens have been SO FAST. Very true, but fast. If you play plan to hit a very high approach and hope it stays on the green.

Honestly, this course was one of the top conditioned county courses I have seen this year. Little Bennett is a tough course due to the rolling hills, narrow fairways and the numerous amount of blind shots. I feel like I could of shaved a few strokes if I was more informed about the course. It would be a good idea to pick up a course book from the pro shop before you play. If you are up for a challenge Little Bennett is definitely the place to go!

Always a good time had at LB. One of the true gems of Montgomery County. You'll need every club in the bag! Must carry a ravine on the 9th and 18th to make it to the green, making a fun and challenging approach shot. All-in-all, a great golf experience, and I can't wait to play again soon!

Little Bennett golf course is a challenging course with lots of hills and valleys with several blind shots and a number of forced carries. It has a lot of "character." I haven't played here since last fall and was pleasantly surprised to see that the condition of several of the greens have been improved greatly.
