The staff is always friendly, and the course has a decent layout. It drains well also, because with all the rain we've had it was pretty dry. There were only a couple places which were soggy and most of those were in the rough and main walking areas between cart path and fairway. Unfortunately, though, I hate the fairway grass (I believe it's Zoysia). It's spongy and wraps itself around the club if you dig a little too deep for the ball. The other issue I have with Hog Neck is the pace of play. It's consistently slow. With all due respect, as a woman I'm tired of hearing how slow women play. We played through three foursomes of men starting on the turn. I've never seen so many 90 degree hooks off the tee or golfers playing tees that were beyond their skill level or those who appear to need to spend more time taking lessons. I'm all for playing on a course, but come on fellas...be aware of your surroundings and, when you're holding up the rest of the course behind you, pick it up! Unfortunately, every time we play this course we experience long rounds. I couldn't wait for this round to be over.
