Haven't played Glenn Dale this year and was pleasantly surprised by what good shape it is in. I know they hosted a Golf Channel Amateur Tournament approximately two weeks ago (a friend of mine played), and it looks like they really took pains to get the course in shape. Nice attention to small details--flower beds, beautiful flowering plants, and landscaping was wonderful--which added to the "look and feel" of the round. Fairways were in great shape compared to last year with very little "wear." The greens were also in good shape, although a little long and slow. Although I wasn't in any bunkers, they looked in good shape with fairly thick sand--some, though, had standing water from the 1.5 days of heavy rain, but only a couple. And, you couldn't beat the price...$48 for a Sunday afternoon. Even though this is a par 70 and the tips are only 6325, there is a fair amount of challenge, elevation change, and extremely thick rough to contend with. Nice job, Glenn Dale, getting this course back in good shape!
