First of all, $75 is too high for this public course...particularly when pace of play was slow. We waited on every shot on the front, but it did spread out a little on the back so we made up some time. The good news: the course is in good shape. Fairways green and filled in nicely. The rough not too terribly punitive. And, the bunkers are the best I've played out of this year, including some private courses. The bad news: the greens were very, very fast--they just don't need to be that fast! The pace was slow. And, the snack bar staff, although very nice and trying to accommodate, were very slow. We almost lost our place on the turn because they couldn't handle the snack bar traffic. Finally, they were about a tee time (10 minutes) behind their tee sheet, which set the tone/pace for the round. Nice layout and plays long, but more like a $60-$65 course.

Superb! The course is overall in fantastic shape...especially for this early in the season! Fairways are thick and lush, the greens were aerated some time ago and growing back nicely (and fast), and the bunkers are dry and have great sand. I was very impressed. Kudos to the super! Additionally, on a Saturday morning, they got us out 20 minutes early and we finished in 4 hours! It was cart path only, but it wasn't a problem--still finished in record time. I really like the layout of this course and, even though I thought $70 was a little high, the course was generally worth the value (compared to others I've played at similar prices).

I like the layout of this course, but today's round is a mixed review. First, the good news. The fairways are in great shape, even some of the traditionally wet holes, i.e., #13 and #16. The bunkers also were in great shape with nice soft (and deep) sand. Now, the not so good--the greens had been aerated recently so the lines caused the ball to roll off track. Additionally, and more importantly, the pace of play was awful. It took us 4 hrs. 50 mins, which is unacceptable. I flagged the marshall down on #8 and talked with the starter on the turn. No help, just excuses..."Wednesdays is Senior day and they are just slow." Really?? I didn't realize there were different pace of play rules for seniors!! Don't blame this on the seniors--the course should not allow one group to set the pace of play, but rather should marshall and move groups along to fill the gaps. At various points on the course, we could see entire holes open (some par 5's even). I like this course, but I won't be back any time soon. And the clear message we heard from the staff was "...if you don't want a slow round, don't play here on Wednesday." Geez...

Wasn't going to write a review...but had to. For this time of year, the course is in awesome shape! Totally green, lush, fairways like carpet. Even the rough is thick and filled in. No bare spots (except directly next to the cartpath), and lush. Greens still wicked fast--stay below the hole. Recenty punched, but no sand fill so rolling nicely but quick. Staff also awesome. The guy in the kitchen opened back up for us to fix us hamburgers--what a nice young man! Great staff member! Still pricey at $69 for this time of year, but the conditions are so nice can't really complain.

Great shape for this time of year! Green, lush fairways; greens wicked fast! Back 9 cart path only--looks like they sustained some flooding from Hurricane Sandy, but we finished in a little over 4 hours. It was extremely cold, but the course in wonderful shape. $69 still a bit high.

Greens are totally healed from aeration. They are very quick. Bunkers are the best I have played out of this year. A few unfixed divots in fairway. Overall course is in excellent shape. Not much in the way of a snack bar & no cart girl was out

First time playing this course. Greens and most fairways had been aerated about 15 days prior, but were filling in nicely...the greens in particular. They were holding and rolling fine. Bunkers in great shape. The rough was tough...thick and long, so stay on the fairway. The staff members were great--from the pro shop to the starter to the marshalls. Pace of play was excellent--4 hours on a Saturday (holiday weekend) morning. I really enjoyed the course. Not a lot of trouble or hazards, but certainly you'll use every club in your bag. It plays long. We'll definitely be back.

Second time back here at Northwest Park, Course is in excellant condition. Tee's & Fairways are all but perfect(Aerated #16 & #17), Green's were still showing signs of aeration but rolled pretty well and accepted shots. Great tradional style layout. Plays 7,300 + from the tips, so it's all the golf course you can handle, but still very playable and enjoyable. If you havent played here, definately put it on your list.

The average rating on the greens is only because they just aerated but I'm sure from what I could tell they are above average under normal conditions. This was the first time I played here and I got a great deal of $22 so I figured I would give it a shot. They have a great practice area and driving range, the pro shop is decent, the staff is friendly, the food is ok too. It also was only 45 minutes from Baltimore using the ICC. I will be back here many more times for sure.

Northwest is a long, open course. always makes for an enjoyable round. from tee to green, everything is in very good shape. Greens seemed a little slippery, but that could just be my own Putting issues. Food at the turn was the best i've had in years! Expect I'll be back at NW many more times throughout the season.

The course was in great shape. Green everywhere you looked. The greens rolled well and the fairways were in good shape as always. Well except for a few on the ones on the back that never seem to dry out after a rain. Northwest has really improved the pace of play this year. It seems to me this year. We got the round done in just under 4 hours.

NW is naturally a long course --- many good drives will still leave you 200+ yards out on your approach. On this day, the superintendent decided to make it even more difficult with many pin placements in the middle of downslopes and ridges. Extremely challenging; incredibly frustrating! Conditions are great, but be cautious of the pace --- group ahead of us forced us into a 5-hour round.

NW Park is in great shape. The course plays extremely long and really makes you work on all 18 holes. One complaint is that the greens are very hard --- tough time keeping the approach shot on the greens (but of course, that could also be linked to my game). Great weather, fun round.

Played the full 18 and it was 52 bucks with a cart. Course was in decent condition, especially for how early in the season it was. Even with all of the rain we had two days earlier, the greens were still extremely fast and challenging. Northwest is a very long course and prepare to use your fairway/rescue woods and long irons.

Just keep in mind this is the end of December....that being said this was my first round here. This is a great traditional type layout(built in the early 1960's)I can see this course being pretty tough and long from the tips(tee's were up today)They have a shortish 9 hole course(nice warm up 9)and a regulation 18 hole course and a nice range with numerous target greens and even heaters.Definitely a course to check out once the weather turns.

the course is in great shape except for one big piece. The bunkers are really bad. There has been a lot of rain lately but the bunkers are more clay than sand. I know this is a county course but a place like this should at least have real sand in it's bunkers.

I can't say enough about the Montgomery County muni's - they just do a great job of maintaining their courses and Northwest Park is of no exception. The conditions were great, the course is super long and a lot of fun to play. Would go back any day.

Course is in great condition. Only problem that I noted was the drainage of the sand traps, particularly the greenside traps. Most had standing water in them almost 18 hours after the last significant rain. Otherwise everything was in great shape. Greens rolled true and were relatively fast. Staff was friendly and helpful and snack bar had a large selection of items, both for breakfast and lunch.

The course is in good shape considering the rain. The bunkers on the "inside 9" course are a mix of sand and mud. Well really more mud. The issue so far this year is that the pace of play is really slow and basic staff courtesy is lacking. Pace of play isn't always the fault of a course but the way they are setting pin positions doesn't help. I don't fault the course for having a lot of play. It's a great thing for Northwest, however I have heard enough complaints from other regulars that something needs done. Maybe the Marshall's need to be a little more proactive. The staff seem a little overstretched. They try as best they can, but the volume seems to hurt the customer service a little.

First time visitor to Northwest. When I got there I was greeted by a friendly staff. Proshop was well stocked with Under Armour and other really nice things. Got a really good deal from the MCG website called e-club. The golf course is a far cry better than most courses in there area and greens were "lightning". I will recommend this course to many other golfers.

Somehow we got away with paying 20$ for 18 holes at 4:12, in a cart. The course is extremely long, and the rough is dangerous. Long and straight still allows you to score well. Staff was good, we brought 60 beers onto the course and no one cared. Great course for the money, best shape I have ever seen it in, and that's in 8 years of playing there.

New to the website. I've played Northwest Park, probably 100 times. If I have a "home course," this is probably it. One observation you have to make about NW Park is they apparently have greenskeepers that know their business. How they do it with the number of golfers they push thru there, I don't know but the course - well lets just say its never in "poor" condition. Greens are nicer than some upscale courses. Bring your driver. I find playing from the tips at NW Park once a year is therapeutic. Very walkable, has a decent practice range; 9-hole Exec Course; the teaching pro there is pretty good too, btw.

I have never played at Northwest park before, but I have heard the conditions are the best that its ever been in. The tee boxes and fairways are in excellent condition. The greens are in good shape, but they don't break at all, which makes them very difficult to read. My only gripe is that the bunkers did not have fresh sand. The course is in awesome shape, now is a great time to play the longest course in Maryland.

Great track that is in great shape right now. Very long course that will challenge your mid iron game. Pace was good, staff was friendly, overall great experience. Chicken Salad sandwich was a very solid choice at the turn. One tip for this course: be accurate off the tee or else you'll be hitting out of US Open type rough.

The course was in pretty good condition considering the recent weather. We had a late morning tee time on a Sunday morning and I felt the marshalls could've helped keep things moving a little more efficiently on the back nine. They've added a outdoor grill operating on the weekends for those who want a pretty good hot dog or burger at the turn...

This course plays long; needed my driver on every hole but the Par 3's. Greens were still recovering from being aerated, but the real issue was players not fixing their ball marks; can't blame the course for that. Staff was friendly and we played until it was too dark to see. Overall very enjoyable course that makes you use all the clubs in your bag.
