Senior rate for Friday morning was $34...a great deal! The course is in excellent shape--fairways green and lush, sand was perfect (plentiful, light and fluffy), and the greens were cut and fast...even though they still have small remaining aeration holes. The rough was thick and very punitive, so stay out of it! Staff was very welcoming. My only complaint was rude players...we were backed up and waiting and the group behind us jumped in front of us on the turn (we were in and out in 3 minutes) and forced us to wait for them to tee off for 10 mins. Then, the guys behind us hit down on us...missed us by 3'. Real golfers know who they follow and when to not hit...if you're going to play the game, know the rules and etiquette. (Didn't rake their size 13's in the bunkers either--pure laziness.) The course is a great balance of easy and tough--most of the par 5's have "snaking" fairways that allow for lateral hazards and swales of long rough to come into play. And, there are some tough par 4's. Enjoy this treat of a course! And, kudos to the super for keeping this course in excellent shape!

Senior special of $34.95 on a Friday morning--great deal! Haven't played the course for a while, and was pleasantly surprised by the conditions. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens all in great shape. The fairways were beautiful--thick and lush. The only fault were the HUGE divots that were not filled in. This is not the course's fault, but rather the men who take huge, deep divots and don't replace the grass or use the filler on the cart. Please be good stewards of the golf course and fix your damage! The bunkers were also very nice, with good deep sand. (Also saw size 13 footprints in several bunkers...I guess the wife cleans up his messes because clearly he was unable to rake his own footprints). The greens were in excellent shape, but a tad on the fast side. Just took me a little to get use to them. Overall, a great course always kept in great shape. One of Montgomery County's best.

Upon arrival, both the starter and person in the pro shop couldn't have been more unfriendly. Both acted as if doing their job and interacting with customers were interfering with their days. In fairness, there were different people when we finished our round and they were both considerably friendlier.

The pace of play was intolerable - over 5 hours! We truly waited on EVERY shot and we tee'd off early on a weekday. There were many groups on the course - at one point, there were four groups waiting on one hole. If the course is regularly that crowded, they need a marshal to keep play moving.

Good news - there were no pitch marks on the greens. Bad news - the greens were so hard, it was impossible to make a pitch mark. The greens didn't hold any shots, so it wasn't possible to hit on and stay on the green. We're not the PGA - no reason to make the greens as hard as the US Open.

This course used to be really nice and one of my favorites...great condition, friendly staff. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The only thing that has remained the same is the high-priced green fee. I didn't mind paying it in the past because I got what I paid for. That is no longer the case.

On a positive note, there was some wonderful wildlife we got to see (while constantly waiting to hit).

Haven't played Hampshire Greens since 2011. I do like the layout--some interesting holes. They recently aerated the greens and fairways, and both are still recovering. Greens were bumpy and fast, so putts were hard to read and rolled in directions you didn't anticipate (due to the punch holes). Most fairways in decent shape, but a couple had huge aeration holes--almost lost a ball in one it seems! Much larger than normal. The rough was brutal, so stay out of it! Bunkers were nice with lots of clean, fine sand. Staff very nice, and they have a nice on-site restaurant with a really nice young man working the counter as well as making lunches. Very welcoming and personable. I still think this course is a little overpriced at $69, and the pace was a tad slow, but a beautiful day to play golf!

Excellent course. Greens were aerated about a week ago, but other than that, everything was excellent. Bunkers had some of the best sand I've had to play off in a while. Tees were groomed perfectly. Rough was a little long, but you aren'e supposed to be there anyway. Reasonably priced snack bar.

I played on 8/19/12 and 9/1/12....course was in decent shape. I thought it was funny that it's a municipal course but it looked like they were trying so hard to be a country club. By far and away the biggest issue was the pace of play, or lack thereof. At a country club that is not an issue, at least not at my club. Besides that issue and the price was a little steep for a muni, the course was interesting and in pretty good shape. No walkers aloud which is a good thing and it was neat how the course was designed in between woods and neighboorhoods. If only the pace of play was better and enforced (it was not either of the two times I played there and I have heard similar complaints from others about this same issue) then it would be one of the best county courses......

Overcast day with mild mist made for an incredible morning and afternoon --- 70 degrees in late-July and a slight escape from the humidity! Only issue is that all the recent rain has left the rough extremely thick. Difficult to find your ball and even more difficult to effectively strike the ball. But of course, it wouldn't be an I could hit it straight and stay in the fairways!

Overall, course is in very good shape. Greens played a little hard, which was surprising based on the recent rain. Pace of play was very good and our foursome finished in less than 4.5 hours. Definitely looking forward to revisiting soon.

Hampshire Greens is in fantastic shape. When arriving at the course the starter walked out in to the parking lot, popped my trunk and grabbed my bag. Although this is much of the norm at a top dollar course, I was a bit surprised by this type of service at Hampshire.

The practice facility is great for a quick warm up before the round, they have a large putting green and chipping area. The range balls were free which is a nice gesture considering the greens fees are less than $70 on a Sunday morning. The matts on the range were a bit hard, but it appeared they also have some grass tees that were not open.

I cannot say enough about the condition of the course. First, the greens were immaculate, there were no brown spots, ball marks seemed to be for the most part fixed and they were set at a good consistent speed throughout the course. The fairways on a few holes were a bit wet, but in the low lying areas where it was wet it didn't come in to play. Tee boxes were well manicured as well. Pace of play was as expected on a Sunday morning, we clocked in at around 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Overall, very impressed by both the service and overall course conditions at Hampshire Greens.

Beautiful day. Considering that it's only early March, the course is in good shape. Tee Boxes will need some TLC as the season hits full swing, but fairways and greens are in great shape. Time of year helps keep a lot of errant shots in play that will otherwise be OB during the peak season. Chicken Salad Sandwich at the turn was on point!

Haven't played Hampshire Greens in 5 years, and it will probably be another 5 years before I go back. The round took 5 1/2 hours and it didn't need to. After a 3 hour front, when we arrived on the par 4 #12 and there was a group on the green, a group in the fairway, and we made the second group waiting on the tee, a phone call to the Pro Shop brought out a marshall. The pace started to improve a little by hole #14 but it was an agnoizing day. The rough had not been touched and was brutal and punishing. The greens were the best--in great shape and really, really fast. Personally, I wouldn't waste the money to play this course until they learn how to manage the pace better. But, if you don't mind waiting on every hole, it's a nice layout.

The course was fine and in pretty good shape. This was my first and last time playing here though. Everyone was very nice and professional but the round took 5 1/2 hours! And that was on Tuesday morning! On 1 par 3 on the front 23 actually had two groups in front of us. Another thing that I think adds to long rounds are the cart rides that one must take from green to the next tee. It really made no sense how far you had to drive on some of the holes. The course is in good shape like I said but it took far too long to play.

Hampshire Greens may be the best-conditioned municipally run course in the metro area. Greens are in excellent shape, fairways very good. A little patchiness in the rough is being addressed by roping off areas to allow regrowth. Pretty challenging layout, maybe not the best course for beginners.

$30.00 after 4:00 --- how can you beat that? Course was in good shape. A bunch of burnt areas in the rough, but the teews, fairways & greens were in great condition. Sand traps were good as well. Tee'd off right around 4:20 and got all 18 in. Will definitely re-visit soon . . .

This course was in exceptional condition. We were blown away by the lushness everywhere you looked. The course is laid out into the neighborhood perfectly and the space between holes, whether it be around a long bend, through a tunnel or over a bridge through the trees is refreshing. The greens and fairways were all perfect. This course can be quite challenging and long but it didn't disappoint on memorial day. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was that the course wasn't over crowded and was paced perfectly for a 4.5 hour round. The grille/food is also first class.

First round of the year and we couldn't have picked a better day. The course is in great shape for this early in the season --- tee boxes were perfect and definitely show that they haven't been heavily trafficked; fairways were in excellent shape; greens didn't have much break in them but were 100% green. Most of the landscape (bushes & trees) still haven't grown in yet, so it was very easy to find errant shots (especially for this guy). Can't wait to tee it up again!

The course was in great condition for the time of year and the amount of rain/snow we have received. The pace of play was pretty good for a Saturday morning, finishing in 4:45. One issue with the course is making the turn. They make it difficult and time consuming to go to the clubhouse for a snack and additionally the cart girl was not carrying any food of substance.

The twilight special of $29 after 4 is a great deal for an above average course. The course was in very good condition and moved so fast that 3 bogey golfers were able to get 18 in, in 3.5 hours, this is an excellent early evening/after work golf destination.

Caught a twilight rate and tee'd off at 4:20. Didn't expect to get all 18 in until I learned that they space out tee times every 10 minutes. Pace of play was perfect; we barely ever had to wait to tee off, and we finished the round in just under 4 hours. Plus, the course is in very solid shape. Not bad for only $29!!! Definitely plan on taking advantage of this deal again soon,

We teed off at 4:45 for about $35 (I think) EXTREMELY SLOW PLAY. After finishing the first 9 holes in 3 hours the other two randoms that my buddy and I were playing with dropped out and we went and play 3 more holes on the front 9. Very frustrating.

Played course the morning after a heavy rain the day before. Greens were very good but most traps had a severe drainage problem (they were water hazards). Fairways generally had good drainage and the rough was cut to a good fair length. I want to try this course under dry conditions. It could be a fun course. Layout is long and openwith large fast greens. Good BBQ pork sandwich at the snack bar.

This course was in good condition as it has been each time I've played there in the past two years. The rain from the previous night, provided some soggy tee boxes and a few wet spots in low areas of a few fairways. I'm not sure why many of the bunkers were nearly void of sand with drainage lines sitting above what sand that remained. The greens were fast and new carts were nice. However, they could use a few more distance markers in the fairways.

I played twilight during the week. The course was in the best shape I have ever seen it. One problem, some of the players were jumping around from hole to hole (you pay a rate and play all day) That made for slower play and random twosomes in front of you.

What a great course - excellent conditions, challenging holes, great burgers at the turn - what more could you ask for? This course plays long and is forgiving, and you'll be able to use every club in your bag. You have to make a tough decision on every hole because of the bunkers and pin placement, but that's what makes it so worthwhile. The staff was very helpful and made sure people kept pace. Overall a great golf outing and I can't wait to play there again.
