Haven't played Bowie for 7-8 years. I've always liked the layout--old traditional-type course with lots of mature trees and narrow chutes. However, it was in pretty bad shape. Hard pan dirt patches throughout the rough and even in some of the fairways. You'd hit the middle of the fairway, but lose the ball because it hit a hard pan patch, bounce right, and into the collection of leaves. The greens were pretty good, but I had forgotten how the edges of the greens run off--on the majority of the greens. And, some of today's pins were on the edges, so if you got past the hole it would roll off. Bunkers were thin on sand, and the cart paths are in bad need of repair for all the tree roots. We only paid $25 with the Tee Time Book, so can't complain too much; however, if a little TLC was put into this course, they might be able to bring it back to earlier years. The club house is another story...needs to be destroyed and rebuilt. It will probably be another 8 years before I go back...just wanted to play someplace close.
