Played late morning on a Saturday. Staff was very nice in pro shop, bar and on course. Round was a little slow, but not painfully so. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in very good shape, but greens were a bit slow. Rough was a bit spotty, but it is the rough after all. Fair course that is not too tough, but fairways won't hold a big slice or big hook. Warmup area is a net box and mats - ok for warmup, but you can only watch the first 20yds or so of your ball flight. A good choice for average folders.

They have done a lot of work on this course since the last time I played here. Greens are in great shape but very fast. They had just been aerated and sanded but they were still fast. Traps had good sand in them and they had been recentely tended by the groundskeepers. Fairways and rough were a little thin but had been resodded in many locations. Limited snack bar with only hot dogs until later in the season. Good tee time rate of $18 plus tax.

Patuxent Greens advertises the "best greens in the Washington DC area." What they don't tell you is that the fairways and tee-boxes are awful. Honestly, there are a few greens that are very good, but most are simply average. Apparently most of the people that play here do not know how to fix a ball mark. I wish they'd hire me to go out there and fix them every other day for 50 cents per ball mark. I would be rich. Since they don't fix them before cutting the greens, many times you are putting through holes. The only thing that makes the course playable is that it is cheap.

Course is in the process of being resodded. Consequently 4 holes are closed to play and most of the other ones have newly resodded areas throughout the fairways and rough. Greens are slow and have some bare spots. Price of $28 includes play all day for as long as you wnat to play. Might be a good deal unless you are insistent on having a complete official round. Limited snack bar is open. Course may be improved after new sod installation is totally complete.

Lots and Lots of issues with this course. Majority of tees were either dirt or crabgrass. Most fairways were thin on grass and not cut if there was grass. Rough was way to high (had to be weeks since they were cut. Greens had crabgrass in places on pretty much every green and looked like they have not cut new cups in a long time (edges were chewed up and sunken into the green). I really could go on and on. They were also were trying teeing people off 1 and 10 at same time (which was strange to me and caused some backups when making the turn). The one positive thing was the staff. Price was around $42 on weekend, wish i could get that $$ back.

I rated this course as a "good deal" for value because we had coupons basically for cart fee ($18) for 18 holes. If I had paid full rate, I wouldn't have been happy. Let me first say that the layout is nice. There are different shaped holes, allowing you to work on different shots, and generally wide fairways so it is forgiving. That was the positive. The issues are the fairways are generally either dirt or crabgrass, the rough hasn't been cut for a while, many of the tee boxes haven't been cut and were long, and the greens were either still showing aeration holes, had black fungus, or still "coming back" from aeration and very bumpy and slow. Again, I can't complain too much because it was basically $20; but make sure you have the correct expectations if you play this course in the next couple of weeks. It's not going to be in the best shape, and is a long way from growing back in. But, you can grip and rip it and not get into too much trouble (other than the long rough).

Although it is still early in the season, it shouldn't be a problem to cut the greens. The fairway we chewed with rough areas, as well as unevenly cut. It was $36 at 330 pm to play, and was worth about $15. Pace of play was fast but probably because it was a Monday. Wait a month before playing to see if it gets any better.

Greens and traps are in great shape. Fairways, tees, and rough are still a work in progress. They are currently working on the tees. Hopefully the fairways will come back in next spring. Snack bar was closed on Wednesday morning.

Played Patuxent for $25 based on a rate I got from making a tee time through this site. It was my first time using the tee time booking system and it worked like a charm. Patuxent was in very average shape, the greens were not cut that day and were long which made them very slow. The fairways were in the most part good shape and the tee boxes were a bit chewed up. Overall, great bargain for $25.

Conditions of Patuxent were sub-par for them. I played a few weeks ago and they were much better! Fairways and greens were torn up bad. There were no marshals out to control the slowest 4-some I've ever witnessed play golf, and the five-some behind us was also permitted. For $30 though, it's tough to beat. I've definitely played worse courses, and I will give Patuxent another shot. I think they just had an off day...

Great open course that is well worth the money! The pace of play was a little slow on the front, and the greens were tough to read, but the open course layout was great! The snack bar ran out of bread, cart girl was always around, and the marshals were on top of their games. Course allows you to use your driver a lot. Stay out of the deep rough, because you will lose your ball! Great day of golf, great course. Definitely will play again this season.

Tee boxes are dreadful. Pace of play was extremely slow. No rangers around either to help push the local hackers. At $30 though on the weekend, it's hard to complain too much.

Fairways, tees, and rough are showing a lot of heavy usage damage. Greens are still OK but suffering from a lot of unrepaired ball marks. Early bird special is still a good deal, but bring your own snacks as the snack bar is not open in the morning, at least during the week.

Course is in good condition although the fairways are beginning to burn out in spots the sprinklers don't reach. Greens are great but greenside trap sand is heavy. The cart girl was around several times and the snack bar is outstanding. Price is great ($19 for an early bird special.

Maybe course conditions will improve later in the season, but when I played it was somewhere between a swamp and a cowpasture. The rough was over six inches deep, the fairways were shaggy, greens were very hard and bumpy, and the tee boxes were thrashed. A lot of potential here, but course conditons were well below "muni" standards

Course is a tough little course that needs a lot of work. I played it in 2002 and it was green, and beautiful. Played it this year and there were some holes that were perfect, others that needed a lot of care. It's a tougher course if you can't hit the ball straight off the tee. Lots of water and OB on the course and I shot terribly because of it.

Very consistent golf course. Easy to get to off the BW Pkwy and 95. Great rates, short tract, tends to play somewhat slow, but always provides an overall enjoyable experience that's not too damaging to the wallet. As Clinton Portis would say, "My pockets straight."

Played this course last spring and it was in much beeter condition then. Fairways have numerous burn out spots and several greens also have several burn out spots. Traps and rough are still excellent however. Tees showing some traffic wear. Snack bar was closed when we finished early morning round. Still an overall enjoyable round.

I have played Patuxent at least a dozen times over the last 5 years, and right now it may be in the best condition that I have ever seen it. Overall, it's not the most impressive course, but it is still a well-kept, full 18 holes and you'll need every club in your bag. The layout presents plenty of challenging shots, and at $25 for a twilight rate (I still got all 18 in and tee'd off close to 4:30), it's well worth the price. Definitely would recommend this course to those looking to swing the clubs at a very reasonable cost, just don't expect a top-tier course, and watch out for all the wildlife!

$25 twilight, not bad! You could literally take your driver, SW, 5I, and putter and play the whole course! Not too exciting. We played a round in under 4 hours which was great, but there were some holes that needed some work. I wouldn't rush to get back there, but if you are in the area, it's not a bad place to check out.

First off, Jssquad and Sliceballs I happened to play at this course during twilight hours as well and the cost was $29. I teed off after 4:30. Their website needs to be updated. This was by no means an impressive course. Given the amount of rain that was received all week prior to this round, it was easy to see that the course had not been mowed in over a week. The fairways were extremely slow. A drive right down the center of the fairway got no roll whatsoever. I've seen this course in much better condition. However, given the recent rainfall, I would still play this course again to see if this particular day happened to be a fluke.

An ok course, somewhat pricey for what it offers which is a lot of long par-4s some challenging par3s and a couple of par-5s. It's just kind of a scruffy course in a nice suit and you pay a premium for playing it (they are serious about the "no jeans and mandatory collar" policy, at least they were a couple of years ago, maybe not so much now). A lot of water, a lot of doglegs. Very flat, not too wide or too tight. Like they took a road-grader and drove it around to make the course, occasionally stopping to make tee-boxes and greens. Not a lot of grass on the fairways but that's usual in a dry summer. Houses, not exactly out of play on a few of the holes. But some challenging, playable holes, no question. It's a flatter, easier boring version of Cross Creek or Marlborough Country Club. Or Redgate, Enterprise, Twin Lakes, Penderbrook, any of a number of DC area public courses. But not all that cheap either.

The reason for the poor scores on this course at this time, are due to the fact that it was recently aerated and the greens top dressed. Under normal conditions it is a nice little course.

All I can say is WOW! I played this course last year, and I promised myself I'd never play there again. However, after hearing they spent $1.5 million to renovate this course, I had to see it with my own eyes. No more patchy fairways, no more dirt greens, no more duck excrements! This course is in tip-top condition, and I'd recommend it to all.

This course is the definition of rinky dink. Very short. great for a hack job. Longest fairway grass I've ever seen. Fairway grass was longer than augusta's rough. Fairly cheap but not a real test of golf. Greens were soft with a fair speed. Overall an OK course if you are looking for an easy day and very short holes; not to mention the rough, i mean fairways.

For the price, I would recommend this course. It was not in the best condition when I played it, but the cost was somewhere around 25bucks after 12. I enjoyed this course since it was the first skins game I ever played, and I actually beat a good friend of mine who happened to be a great golfer. I must be getting better.
