My annual trip to Rocky Gap...I really like this course and the Nicklaus layout. Mountain holes on the front nine with lots of ups, downs, blind shots, and hole-lining hazards. The back nine is more valley-type, with several narrow holes carved out with hazards running across fairways and up both sides. A little bit of everything! They have had rain almost every day for a month (the cart guy told me), so it was cart path only. It did shower on #8-#9, and the course did drain off the extra water pretty quickly. It seemed only around drains and low areas where it was really wet. Cart path only on this course can simply wear you out! Lots of tough holes to walk. Course, though, was in exceptional shape, including the bunkers which were dry and raked...only saw two bunkers with a little water in them. Staff is wonderful--welcoming, genuinely happy you are "their guest," and very helpful. This is a great course with lots of risk/reward holes, 5 par 3's, and variety in layout. It's worth the 2 hour drive from Baltimore, and they have a great restaurant (LB's Place) and the casino, although small, is clean, welcoming and has a variety of slots...as well as table games. We left at 8:20 am and arrived back home at 8:20 pm...played golf, played slots, had dinner, and driving time. Not a bad day!

With Tee Time Book, $30. That's a deal! This course was in immaculate shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough lush and green. Greens looked liked they had been aerated some weeks ago and were a tad long, but rolled true and nice pace. Sand in the bunkers was perfect, and we played in under 4 hrs. This course is aesthetically beautiful, and has a nice mix of mountain holes (elevation changes, sloping fairways, nicely designed holes around creeks and ravines, tree-lined) and valley holes (wide open fairways, "what you see is what you get", and flatter lies). I just really like the design and layout of this course, and it was in perfect condition today. After golf, had an early dinner at the casino restaurant and then in to play the slots before heading home. This is a great resort with lots to offer--only 2 hrs from Baltimore and definitely worth the drive. Kudos to the Super on course conditions.

Got in with a member and played for $35.00. Course is a tough layout, and in great shape. Only issues were the bunkers were hard packed and inconsistent, and 1st cut of rough was almost 6" (lost 2 balls in the rough that were only about 2' off the fairway). Other than those two issues, course is beautiful.

Greens are excellent, running pretty fast, fairways maybe a little bit shaggy but otherwise in good shape. Fun layout, front nine up & down the hills, back nine in the valley. Maybe not quite worth making the haul out here from DC/Balt but a good place to play if you're passing through.

Heard a lot of hype about this course so was anxious to play. Played on a Thursday morning and they had just aerated the greens two days prior. The good news is they reduced the rate as a result (some courses don't). It was a nice track with a lot of diversity in the look and feel of the holes. The pace of play was good, and the staff was personable and helpful. This is a pretty long haul for us (over 2 hours) and there are some nicer courses between Baltimore and Flint, but it's worth a play if you're in the area or making a stop on a trip.

Nice course but only if you are in the area I would not make the hike up there from Baltimore just to play it. Maybe if you play Musket Ridge, MD National, and Rocky Gap could be a decent Fri-Sun golf trip. The staff was nice. I was even given a biscuit with some apple butter from one of them before my round. The course from what I hear was not in top condition at the time and I thought it was pretty good so it may be worth checking out again.
