Had a July 4th special--$59 for 18 holes, range balls, and lunch! Great deal. Hadn't been to PB Dye for over a year. It's in great shape. I believe Kasper is out and new management is in--and the course looks like it! Fairways lush, rough consistent and nicely trimmed, greens were in excellent shape, and the bunkers were nice. The only reason I gave it an overall 4 vs. 5 is because the tee boxes were a bit torn up. The staff is very welcoming and eager to assist, and the lunch we had was good. This is an extremely difficult course with the undulated greens, slope and roll of the fairways, and some target golf required on several holes. It will challenge you and you will use every club in your bag. But, it's a great course--interesting layout, challenging greens, and some bounces/roll you weren't expecting. If you like a little challenge, you'll like this course.

With the Tee Time Book, $69 on weekends any time. This is a real deal for this course. Always in exceptional shape, and today was no exception. The fairways were green, lush, and beautiful...for as far as you could look across the course at various vistas. The rough was treacherous--long, thick, and a challenge to get out of. Some of the tee boxes were a little chewed up, but it did not detract from the golf experience. Bunkers, as well, were in excellent shape. Two beverage carts out today, so we felt well taken care of; and, they had an outside hot dog/hamburger station on the turn if you just wanted something quick. The pace was a tad slow (about 4 hrs. 45 mins.), but on such a beautiful day, everyone was out. It wasn't a surprise the pace was off, but they were marshaling. This course is a real treat...it's tough, and has the traditional railroad ties, bunkering, and undulating greens that Dye is known for, and it's a real challenge for all skill levels. I don't always play it well (although today I hit 11 out of 14 fairways, so it made the round more enjoyable), but I absolutely love this course and the condition in which they keep it. Give it a try if you haven't already, but take some patience with you.

Haven't played this course in ages, but have always liked it...I'm a Dye fan (both Dyes). The course is in great shape. Fairways, greens, and bunkers all in excellent shape. The greens are large, undulating, and fast--and it's best to hit short and bounce up than try to stick the greens. You will roll through and off. The only reason I gave the course 4 stars instead of 5 was due to some surprises--tee boxes chewed up, some dirt/bare spots around greens and in some fairways, and they were spraying chemicals during play (which I happen to be allergic to). They have a great grill in the clubhouse, as well. With the Tee Time Book, the round was $44, which is a real deal for this course. Take your patience with you, because this course can be challenging especially with the long rough; but, it is fair. Enjoy!

Another one of my favorites in the area.Greens and Approaches were a little chewed up.Fairways, Roughs and Bunkers were in good shape.Lots of blind tee shots here...course knowledge goes a long way.Bring your A short game as the Greens are some of the most undulated around with multiple levels.Green complexes are also extreme with lots of swales, grass bunkers and railroad ties.PB Dye is a challenging test of golf.check it out

I do not know what all the hype is about.....I did not like the course at all. The course was not in that great of shape at all. What was really frustrating was that the yardage markers on the course were very off from the actual yardage. I had a rangefinder and a gps fortunately but in some cases the yardages on the course were 50 or 60 yards off of what was actual. The course was too much razzle dazzle too. Too many forced carries and for most golfers out there this means frustration and lost golf balls. I will not be playing at this course again.

This was the first time I ever played this course. I was hoping to see what a Dye other than Pete can design. It started out really challenging with a long dog leg Par 4. Then an unique uphill Par 3 that you hit over a natural area. Followed by a challenging Par 5 that dog legs up the hill. Then a long narrow Par 4 that demands a really straight shot that must hit the green and if you miss left you are in a pond. And so on. As I played this course I was really enjoying the aesthetics and design, but one thing began to come to light. I have played this course before. What? How could that be. Then it became obvious, each hole on this course reminds me of a hole I have played on another Dye designed course. So now what? Well, I had a really good score for a course I have never played although you better bring you 'A' game on the green, because these greens are some of the toughest greens I've ever played on. My favorite is Hole #11 which is a simple Par 3...right? You are staring downhill to a green that is guarded by water on all three sides with a hill behind it and an unusual rock facing with a false front. There is a little bridge you can walk across to get to the green. It's a peninsula green that juts out from the hill and you must hit it. This is like #17 at Sawgrass! As a matter of fact just pretend you are in the Players championship. Unless you can hit the ball straight you will be losing a lot of golf balls on this hole. Enjoy. It's worth playing once and a while.

The course value was great based on using free passes won at a previous tournament. Our group return to use these passes on a dry day and enjoyed our time on a mid-week afternoon. This course is worth the drive but you may make a 36 hole event by including another area course. A lot of good courses in the area.

We had coupons for $25, so playing PB Dye at this rate was a real bargain! The course is always in great shape, and they were working to try to catch up with the required maintenance from the 5 straight days last week of rain. The rough was long and tough to get out of, so staying in the fairway was a must. Some fairways, particularly edges, were showing a little wear and tear, and I noticed the mounds around the green on #18 showed a lot of dirt. As well, many of the bunkers were GUR. However, the course was overall in good shape and provided the usual challenging golf experience. Playing a round at PB Dye is not for the faint of heart--it can be punishing. But, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and they are getting the course back into pristine shape.

The hot dry summer has begun to get to the fairways and greens but they are still very playable. Back nine is somewhat better than the front nine. Traps and tees are in excellent condition. Staff members are friendly and helpful. Snack bar is first class.

I have mixed emotions about my first experience at the PB Dye course. First, the staff is outstanding, from the bag attendant to the waitress in the restaurant to other staff members throughout the day. Three different people asked how my sandwich was (and it was great)! Range balls were included in the price, and the range had natural grass, a plus. The course itself was as difficult as I had heard, which I don't mind, but I found the golf experience to be a bit unfair. Some of the holes are so ridiculous that it's impossible to score no matter how well you play the hole. The greens are brutal, and there are many blind shots and misleading distance references (on the course and in the $6 course guide we bought), that even good shots can get you in a lot of trouble. One hole (#16?) was a 370-yd par 4 with almost no landing area anywhere and so many plank-lined bunkers that it looked like ole PB was on an acid trip when he put the pencil to paper on that one. Most of the fairways were in very good shape, and the greens, although lightning fast and undulating, were in very good shape. It definitely had too many blind shots for my taste, but most of the course was in good shape. Several holes were definitely in need of repair, especially some of those ridiculous plank-lined bunkers. And some of the ball washers were out of water. Overall, the staff was excellent (although the starter was a little too cocky to actually be helpful), most of the course was in good condition, and it was definitely extremely challenging. Bring your A game, because you will likely be humbled at this one.

Today's cart path only for the entire course helps keep the course in nice shape, although there were some sandy repair areas on some tee boxes and fairways as well as some greens with poorly repaired ball marks. Yardage markers are sometimes difficult to see or determine with all the mounds, sand traps, and blind shots. The conditions seem to be slipping a bit in the numerous sand traps and other areas needing repair.

Course is in excellent shape and management appears to put a lot of effort into keeping it that way. There seemed to be one greenskeeper on every hole. This is a very tough course. Snack bar is pricey but excellent.

First time playing PB Dye and I was really impressed by the conditions. It had rained for two consecutive days and the course was surprisingly dry. Luckily I played in a tournament, otherwise I would have had a terrible score because this course is TOUGH. 26th toughest in the country to be exact. If you are up for a challenge PB Dye is ready to humble your game.

Played after a week of rain and course was very wet. Greens were good but had a lot of ball marks that were poorly repaired. Fairways were also good but with a lot un unrepaired divots. Most traps had standing water. All problems were probably a result of last weeks heavy rain. Excellent snack bar.

What a challenging and awesome course! The layout and the views are as good as any other course in MD. Bring every club in the bag because you'll need them. Plays long and the tiered greens are ridiculously difficult. Took advantage of the "Super Tuesday" special and played for only $50, which included a sandwich and drink at the turn. My only gripe is that the course was crowded today (b/c of the special), but the Rangers didn't seem to be around to help push the pace. Also, I don't remember seeing the cart girl after the 2nd hole. Overall, I'm excited to play again.

Course is very challenging. Fairways and rough are in great shape. Greens are OK but may have some mold starting. Staff appears to be treating and It should be OK. For now they still roll true. Sand in traps is still a little heavy. Snack bar is excellent but a little expensive. Cost is a little high but not too bad with the tee time book. Definitely rates a replay however.

Great layout, lots of fun to play if you are ready for the challenge. I caught the afternoon special, which made the course more affordable for me. Greens were true and fairways were in spots, pretty chewed up but it did spot me from enjoying this experience.

This course is very challenging, but well placed shots are rewarded. The course was in very good condition, the fairways and greens were pretty fast even though a heavy rain hit the area the night before. The rough was pretty long and the bunkers were in good shape. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my round, and will try to get back soon.

The fairways have a lot of bare spots, and the greens were banged. Not too many people fix ballmarks here. The rough was actually the best part of the course; it was lush and green. The starter said that they had a lightning strike earlier in the season that destoyed their water pumping system. Whether this was spin or not, I would wait until next year to play this wonderful course.

It is not often I bash a course like this but.... PB was not even worth the gas I spent coming from Baltimore. The course is a wreck & rip off. After I finished I stopped by to see what Whiskey Creek looked like and the guy there I wish I could remember his name felt so sorry for my friend and I that he let us play there for 1/2 price. PB Dye should be closed for a year to fix the course. Great layout but after that it is nothing but a dog track.

-------For the record I failed to mention PB DYE claims their water system broke back in March or April. The reason you should avoid this course is because they do not let anyone know who books a tee time and pays full price.

I played here in a tournament through my company so I did not have to pay to play. I had never played this course before and it turned out to be extremely nice. I would consider myself a below average golfer but this course was very difficult. Overall though it was a nice course to look at with extremely nice playing conditions.

Been ages since I've played this course, but course in very good shape. Fairways, greens, and bunkers all excellent. The greens are undulating, tiered, and large, and they can be treacherous and difficult to read...typical Dye. Better off hitting short and bouncing up, because trying to stick the green will just cause you to roll through the green and off. The only things that surprised me (and, thus, not 5 stars) were the tee boxes were a bit chewed up, there were some dirt spots around greens and in the fairways that were unexpected, and they were spraying chemicals while we played. The rough was also very long, but it seems to always be long at this course. I like Dye courses and like this one in particular. I don't always play it well, but still like it...although today, I played pretty well. They have a very nice grill as well. With the Tee Time Book, it was $44 and that is definitely a deal for this course. Take your patience, though; it can be a real challenge.

Course was in decent shape, pace of play was excellent as there was really no one on the course. The greens looked a little beat up, and some of the fairways were too. The greens are a joke, circus like. I had three four putts and shot an 86... the worst
