I live on the gold course which is now closed. They haven't mowed the rough this entire yr and the greens will need to be completely resodded. It will take them yrs to get that course up to even fair playing conditions.

I had 2 free passes that I received as an x-mas gift a few yrs ago, when the course was in somewhat better condition. I used one and immediately determined that I would rather do any number of things than subject myself to another rd of golf on this goat farm

We used to walk our dog along Tahoma Farm Road which cuts through the gold course. They haven't mowed the grass along the rd or trimmed back the vegetation coming through the course fence which has led to a major tick infestation. We had to stop walking the dog that way as she would come home each and every time with at least 3 ticks.

I called the city to complain about what condition the course is in now.It is a neighborhood health hazard with the ticks and poison ivy (another issue). Unfortunately they gave me the lame excuse that since it is zoned as a golf course, they are permitted to have these as 'golf hazards'.

What this course needs is a heavy dose of nuclear weapons testing done on it.

Stay away! With any luck, they will go out of business (they're currently in foreclosure) and we'll get a more acceptable neighbor, like a Wal-Mart, Meth Lab or North Korea.

Finding out that its ENTIRE annual membership had left the club should have been enough of a clue for me to cancel my reservation but "Nooooo, I had to see for myself." And what a disaster it was. Wakefield Valley used to be a fairly highly rated golf course with an interesting layout and small slick greens. Now they run at no more than 2.5 on the Stimp meter. But they're definitely better than the shaggy fairways and tees. Ever lose a dozen balls that never went more than 10 yards off the fairway? We did. And this ridiculously deep rough caused my twosome of 15 handicappers to take more than 4.5 hours to play . . . and we never encountered another group. Stay away!!

When you find more snakes on a course than decent holes, it is time to stop playing there. Wow I had not been here in a few years and I could not understand why Golf Now had this place for $16/PP on their hot deals but now I know. I can't imagine what a person who pays full price here thinks. This course is shot, there is nothing good to say about it the whole place is a wreck. I left after 11 holes and seeing 3 different snakes (I'm not a fan of them).

I grew up playing golf at Wakefield Valley and might I say it is a shame to see how the golf course has deteriated over the years. It's a dilema relative to the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins...poor ownership,Hank needs to go...bottom line. This course used to boast the best green's around, not anymore. They used to hold U.S. Open qualifying here. Now all you see is crabgrass, weeds, tree's with overhanging branches everywhere, tee boxes with sprigs of grass and bunkers that are all dirt with shale, they are unplayable. The golf course is still a great layout but needs a major overhaul. They can start with running Hank out the door.

They have lots of specials going on... go to www.wakefieldvalley.com. I know it has gotten some mediocre to bad reviews but with the specials it was worth the money. I bought two and go two free so $23.50 per round is great... worth coming back to... will go again!

Was worried based on reviews I read. Not a bad course if it were a municipal course but the green fee is definitely higher than a muni. Different grass types abound, weeds, and just a few bare spots. Bunker sand varies greatly and some were hard as concrete. Only one rake for every two bunkers which is part of the reason players don't consistently rake them when done. Not a marshal to be seen anywhere so the round took forever. Some challenging holes / decent layout. President of the club is gruff and not customer-focused. Starter very friendly and helpful. 12 oz. soda $2.50! All in all, I won't come back until they drop the green fee to appropriate level or bring conditions to upscale level.

played this course a few years ago and it was in reasonably good shape but have read on GolfLink, TheLocalGolfer, and GolfinAmigos that course conditions have suffered in recent years from poor management.

Prior to reading those reviews I had bought a Groupon and planned to play it but needed to go on a trip which would keep me away until after the Groupon expired. I called and spoke to Hank, the President of the club, to ask politely for a one week extension. He told me very brusquely that I was basically out of luck and that I'd have to take it up with Groupon. I offered to pay the difference between what I paid for the Groupon and their normal green fee. He said, No - the Groupon expires July 1. I asked him if the club had already received the money from Groupon. He said Yes, repeated that I'd have to take it up with Groupon. So I asked if the course management did not have the authority to provide special consideration and he said No, you'll have to take it up with Groupon and hung up on me. Think I'll ever play at that course or recommend it to anyone? Not if they are so desperate that they will take your money and tell you "tough luck"!

Although the fairways and rough are in reasonable shape, the greens, traps, and tees need a lot of work before next spring. Greens had a lot of bare spots and were recently aerated without a significant level of sanding. Traps were rock hard and had apparently not been "worked" for a couple of weeks. Staff was friendly and helpful but very limited (one person ran clubhouse and the snack bar). Layout is good, so I hope the course comes back next summer.

Course was supposed to open at 7:00 but no one showed up until 7:30. In fairness, there was no scheduled tee time until 10:00. Played Green/White. Greens were in excellent condition and traps were playable and taken care of. Fairways, tees, and rough had numerous areas where grass was extremely thin or non-existant. Snack bar was good with a chipped beef on biscuit special. Special of $10 off fees if you bring 3 non-perishable food items. Check website for specials/coupons.

Played Green to White, course was in a lot better shape than it was in last year. I played Saturday morning and the course was empty. Some of the rough needed to be better kept, but overall fairway, tee boxes, and greens were in good condition. Rates have come down significantly. If you bring 3 non-perishable food items to the pro shop and print off the internet coupon, you will receive a $10 discount. For a Saturday morning at a price of $36 with cart, I will definitely play this course again.

Course was in terrible shape. Fairways were spotty, lots of chewed up tee boxes (a few crabgrass has taken over), sand traps were horrible...no sand in them at all and if they had sand they were hardpack. Green did roll fast and were in good shape, but a couple had some real dead/dirt spots. It has been a great course in years past, so not sure why the condition are they way they are. (played green/gold).

This course was great b/c it is not far from Baltimore, and is a pretty hard course. This course has the second highest slope rating in MD. The rough is wicked b/c all the rain and the par 5's are 500 plus on some holes. They have 36 holes so when the season kicks in give this place a try.

This course is fairly tight, and requires you keep the ball in the short stuff. The difficulty starts right of the bat as #1 is a dog leg left with a barn down the left side. Hit too close to the barn and you might be playing sideways or very short. #3 is a 195 yard par 3 with a 180 yard forced carry. Water comes into play on 14 holes.

Course was in good condition for the fall. Greens had been aerated about a week ago but they are almost back in $30 senior rate on Mondays and Wednesdays is a good deal.

After having played this course in late spring and being disenchanted with the condition, we questioned the staff before making the tee time regarding the condition of the golf course, and in particular the sand traps. We were told that the coruse was in great shape and that most of the traps had been fixed and filled with sand. Much to our chargrin, we fond the course to be in poor shape. Patch fairways, with scattered weeds in both the fairways and throughout the tee boxes. The only sand evident at this facility were the piles of old sand on the parking lot. The traps throughout the White and Green course were nothing more than raked rocks and dirt. What was most disturbing, was after the round and I spoke to the owner regarding the condition, he was rude and indicated he could not care if I ever brought back our 16 member golf club. Candidly, this is a course that is permanently removed from our courses to play. It is a shame because we used to play this course about 10 times per year.

I have not clue what the last person who reviewed this course is talking about. I played the same day with a foursome we got finished in 4 1/2 hours and we only caught on group one time and never saw anyone behind us. I thought the course was in very good shape. The fairways were very green and the greens were ok, keep in mind they were just done a few weeks ago (like most courses right now). Ok so there was not a drink cart and the water foutains were not working but you could have stopped at the turn or bring something before you start. The course played very fair and I would go play it again anytime.

Great course conditions all around. I played the white and gold courses which were very challenging and fun. The Par 3's were tough due to water in front of almost every green. My only complaint would be the bunkers, they resembled mud piles, the guy responsible for the bunkers must of slept in today.

Playing this course on the weekends can make a serious dent in your pocket. For 60 bucks, I wish I was given a little bit more than just a round of golf. However, the course was in beautiful condition. This course features 27holes, with three separate 9-hole courses. I especially enjoyed playing on the gold course. It's always easy to make a t-time since they have the ability to send you off on three separate courses at a time.
