Haven't played here since the name changed back to River Downs (from Francis Scott Key). First, the pro's: pretty decent shape considering what it was, greens in fairly good shape although a bit slow and a couple had bad spots, and pace of play was under 4 hrs on Saturday morning. The con's: #2 and #15 fairways were chewed up; #5 the rough and around the green splotchy at best; #11 the cart path was treacherous. They currently have a bunker project underway and were upfront about that, thus a $40 cost for a Saturday morning. One guy managing the pro shop, check-in, golf carts, starting, and snack bar...no coffee ready, and lost track of starting groups off #1 tee. But, we weren't expecting much, so not disappointed. Some tough holes with lots of environmental area carry, elevation changes, end-of-fairway lay-up shots, and fairly narrow. Need to be accurate more than long. A decent test, but take your patience, plenty of sleeves of balls, and low expectations.
