First time playing this year...don't know why I haven't played sooner, but just didn't work out in my schedule. First the good news: the fairways for the most part were green and had grass, although "thining" in some places; greens were in good shape and rolling true; and the bunkers were in good shape with playable sand (not too heavy). The cons are: rough was brown and all dried out, so when you hit it your ball took off; some tee boxes were tattered and worn; and the flies for some reason were terrible!! It seems Pine Ridge has heard the complaints about pace of play...they moved to 10 minute tee times and had us wait on the first tee for our tee time before teeing off. Pace was better than previous experiences, but we still waited on a couple of holes. I still like the layout and views on this course, but didn't think it was worth $65.

First round this year at Pine Ridge. Greens in excellent condition, as well as bunkers. Doing some minor drainage work on #2, with netting to protect the workers in the middle of the fairway. Was surprised, though, at how browned out some of the fairways were. With all the rain we've had over the past several months, the fairways should be green and lush. Rough was thick and long, and tough to get out of. Starter put us out 15 mins early, and we were done in 4.5 hours. Course was continuously marshaled, so they are working on pace of play.

Still one of my favorites, I simply love the layout, the views, and the "old traditional style" of this course. Course was in great shape--fairways, bunkers, and greens. Course has a reputation of slow play--we played on a Tuesday morning in 4 hrs. 45 mins. Marshalls were patrolling, but course just full. Take your patience, but try this course at least once.

For all the snow and rain, the fairways were extremely dry! On a Saturday morning, we were scatter with the carts and could run all over. Course in good overall shape--tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens. Greens were a tad bumpy, but not bad given recent weather...definitely playable. We had three foursomes in front of us playing a mini-tournament with two guys videotaping (really???) which backed up the course, but we were still done in about 4.5 hrs. The marshall was monitoring. This course is one of my favorites--I love the views around the reservoir and the layout fits my eye. Take your patience with you (play can be slow sometimes), but definitely worth the time to play.

First time playing this year and was a bit surprised at the condition of the course. Typically in excellent shape, I think the harsh weather--terrential rains over long periods of time and horrendous heat with triple-digit heat index--has challenged the superintendent's ability to keep the usual carpet-like fairways. The brown spots seemed to be mostly in drainage areas and on some of the steep slopes. The bunkers were in good shape, and the greens were decent although they were divot-riddled (from golfers not fixing their marks) and a little long. The good news is the marshalls were out monitoring the pace of play...for a Saturday morning, we finished in 4 hrs. 40 mins which is pretty good for this course. I still like this course--the tree-lined fairways, the scenery of the Reservoir, and the variety of holes make it one of my favorites. I'm hoping, though, they get it back into shape that better equates to the $59 rate.

I always sing praises for this course. Well she is finally starting to show her wear for the year. And this is to be expected with the ENORMOUS amount of play it gets every day of the week, this late in the golfing season. Greens were perfect but agonizingly slow. Tee boxes were pretty chewed up from divots but fairways were decent. Heavy signs of cart wear on some of the holes but pretty decent. Just wait until the leaves start changing, hard to fine a more beautiful course in the Baltimore area...

The course was in really nice shape, the pace of play was great and I can't believe I'm saying this about Pine Ridge. We played in about 4 hours on a very nice weather day. Ok so I guess the aerated a couple weeks ago I did not ask but I could see faint holes on the greens and they were moving very slow on most holes, then they would speed up on other so if you play there soon watch out. Anyway Pine Ridge, nice golf shop, good food and not as slow as it used to be so give it a shot.

Course is in still pretty good shape. Some GUR marked in the middle of some fairways, and along many cart paths. Bunkers in great shape. This time, I have to side with Chewy...slow round! Had a 2:30 tee time and took 2 3/4 hrs to do the front nine. Grabbed a marshall at #7 to ask him to move people along (saw a hole open in front of a group a couple in front of us). He wasn't happy, but he checked on us on #11 to see if it was moving better. He did what I asked. It did pick up on the back after #13 and we finished in 5 hrs. 10 mins. Excruciating, though. Had 3 outings and I think overbooked the afternoon. Need to manage their tee sheet and pace better--I was told "it's a public course." Ugh... They did work to speed it up, though, so it was appreciated.

Have played Pine Ridge one day each month (Mar, Apr, May, Jun) and continue to find the course in excellent shape...from tees to greens. I did notice a lot of downed trees, and some bunkers close to the tree line had debris in them from last Friday's severe weather. They are in the clean-up process now. I read Chewy's evaluation from Thursday and have to say I have not had the same experience. I've played different days (weekdays and weekends) and different times in the past four months and have had 4-4.5 hour rounds every time. Today we tee'd off at 11:30 and finished at 4--a 4.5 hour round. They were marshalling and keeping things moving (as they have in the past), so it just sounds like Chewy has had some bad luck. (You might just want to join a club so you don't have to put up with seniors and "old female hackers" at public courses...) I really like the layout of this course and they keep it in great shape. The staff is always pleasant and gracious...this is a very popular course and certainly a challenge to manage the volume and pace, but they do a good job.

Just recently Golf Now added the Baltimore City courses, not a good idea. Pine Ridge should have been left off the list for sure. I commented early this year that the pace of play picked up and the course was worth playing again. Please excuse my other review, this place is back to the same old Pine Ridge. Between the seniors and old female hacks out there today pace of play was damn near 5.5 hours. I'm the kind of golfer who needs to play at a steady pace and I take it so were the other 3 guys I joined. The marshal did nothing to speed the 2 or 3 groups up in front of us and it ruined a very nice weather day. The course itself also was not in the best shape. I think at the beginning of April it was in much better shape. Overplayed by hacks will do that to the course and the other thing I noticed besides the slow play of Abe Lincoln and his crew were they did not fix the thousands of divots they alone created. I did not play here for 3-4 years and I doubt I will be returning. This is a good place for someone who wants to play cheap golf at a decent course, for me I rather spend another 30-$40 and go to a course I don't notice myself aging between shots.

Second time playing this course and still love it. Very scenic, well kept, and in good shape. Saw a few dirt spots on the edges of a couple of fairways, but still in great shape overall. Wanted to comment that the marshalls were out our entire round and, for a course who has a bad reputation on pace of play (supposedly 6 hour rounds), we finished on a Saturday morning in 4 hours. They are certainly aware of the concerns and are working to improve the experience.

As long as I've lived and played in MD, I have never played Pine Ridge. Stayed away because of the comments there were long rounds. However, played today in a little under 5 hours and I was very impressed with the course. This course had lush green fairways, greens were readable and rolling true, and the bunkers had nice sand. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. We did see the marshall several times--he asked us to pick up the pace when we got a little out of position (which was done respectfully and we didn't mind). The place was packed (in front of and behind us), but what a great course. Loved the layout, many of the holes sloped and with the lush grass were beautiful to the eye, and the holes overlooking the water were gorgeous. I will definitely play again, and hope they continue to marshall to avoid any 6 hour rounds.

Look out it is going to snow! I played Pine Ridge today, 65 and sunny in early March. The course was packed and the round only took 41/2 hours SERIOUSLY! I had not been back here in over 3 years because I could not deal with the 6 hour rounds but they must have a plan in place. The marshal kept everyone moving today even told my group that was on the heels of the front group 14/18 holes to pick it up. I'm so glad they are doing something now because this is a great course and a fun course. Overall things were close to perfect for this time of the year but I can't stress enough how enjoyable it was to play a normal pace there.

I loved playing on pine ridge. It was a beautiful course and the conditions were nearly perfect. I liked the varying elevations along the course. I also liked the many water traps and the beautiful surroundings along the course. The price is a little steep, but I think it is worth it.

This was my first time here in 18 months and right off I missed the deer herds that used to roam this course. Otherwise, greens were in great shape but very fast. Traps had fresh sand. Fairways were OK but rough had a lot of bare spots. Snack bar is excellent although the on course snack bar was closed. Course tends to get very crowded, but is OK early.

Course was in fantastic condition. Pace of play was a remarkable 4 hours on an extremely busy Tuesday morning. Greens were a little slow, rangers were visible throughout the round. Food at the turn was excellent. Definitely a Baltimore County gem for only $43.

The pace of play here is RIDICULOUS! It took almost THREE hours to play the front nine! There were THREE groups waiting to tee off on the eight hole when we pulled up. The back nine was slightly faster; probably because some groups quit after nine. The conditions weren't that great, either. Greens were VERY slow, which seems to be the norm here. I can't say that I'll come back here.

Course can be a fun layout except that it is often extremely crowded. In spite of heavy usage, greens, fairways, and traps are in excellent condition. Rough, however has a lot of bald spots. Staff is cordial and there are two snackbars, one in the clubhouse and one on the course itself. A good golfing experience in spite of the crowded conditions.

This course continues to be one of the the best muni courses around. Every part of the course was in very good condition. Greens were a little slow due to all the rain we received during the week. The only downfall to the course is the pace. You're looking at a 5 hour round at peak times.

This course is in no better shape than any of the city's cheaper courses. Even though I played at a discounted rate, I would be damned if I would pay close to fifty dollars to play this track early on a weekend. While it's a decent layout the so-so conditions and the rediculously long round have checked this course off my list.

The course was in over all good shape. Tee boxes were in good shape. Fairways were nice and green as was the rough. The greens on the front were sandy from top dressing and on the back they looked as if they had been aereated. Tough to putt on. The early Sunday morning round took 4.5 hours.

Course was in decent shape. Patches of dirt existed throughout the fairways...Often times, grass was so short, I'd rather be hitting off dirt. Yeah yeah yeah, it's early but considering they charged almost 40 bucks, youd think the course would be in slightly better shape...The city courses got rid of the GPS carts, and replaced them w/ faster (supoosedly state-of-the art cards) It just seemed like a normal golf cart to me. Course was extremely crowded. It took almost 5.5hrs. However, my tuna sandwich was excellent, but it was very noticeable the snackbar employee hadnt been out of the snackbar in about 10years...Scary individual!!

This is another one of those great Baltimore City Municipal courses. Great value and a scenic course. If you want to play here, you must make a t-time far in advance. These city courses implemented a timing system designed to keep your game around 4.5 hrs. At first glance, it appears like a great system, but the rangers don't care to actually monitor it. I played during a weekend, and the round took over 5.5 hrs. Only a great course if you have no other plans the rest of the day.
