I have played this course off and on for about 6 years I guess. When I first played I thought it was ok and would grow in well someday plus with all the houses that were being built around there I figured it would be great, I was wrong. Each year this course gets a little worse and even with internet deals letting you play during the week for under $20 it is not worth the gas or time from Baltimore. I seriously doubt I will ever return there. With that being said it is not so bad that if I lived close I would not play it so if you do feel free to get some hacks in. There are some nice holes there you know the layout is good but that is about it. I suspect they will build houses on this course soon, I don't see it making it.

Found a mid-morning Weekend tee time via GolfNow at a decent price, so decided to give it a shot. Was generally wary of a course that only measured 5500 from the tips, but was surprised by the challenge. It's totally exemplary of the best (and worst) of target golf.

The Starter hands out a tip sheet at the onset of your round, follow it's recommendations. Went in thinking fire away, 6 holes later that slip of paper was the Bible. Off the tee there can be 200+ forced carries, with no bail outs, and scrub brush that envelopes anything that falls into it (that said, came out about +18 on balls for the shag bag, so that's a plus).

Some of the tee boxes were a little torn up; and in certain areas crab grass was sneaking into the fairways and tees. However the greens were in good shape (if only people could fix their own ball marks, had to do about 6 a hole), if a little shaggy ergo slower than one would expect based on this Summer's weather.

Other Notes:
- No "turn" per se, but a snack hut stands after the 6th and 12th holes.
- Absolutely no issues with pace of play for a 2-some at 10:52 on a Sunday.
- No bugs coming off the Occoquan, but there was a breeze that probably kept them at bay.
- Don't pay any heed to the distances on the placards next to each tee, they weren't particularly right. GolfLogix GPS was more accurate.

All in all, would I play again? Probably, but coming from Rockville I might just stick to the Little Bennett's of the world.

Excellent, friendly service on a beautiful track located right on the river. Many holes offer water views on this tight and challenging course. At less than 6,000 yards from the tips, leave your driver at home. Excellent twilight rates (after 2pm) $39 on weekends and $29 during the week.

At $29 for twilight, the value of Belmont Bay can't be beat. The staff is extremely helpful & friendly and they have a great restaurant at the clubhouse. As for the course, just about every hole presents a challenge, with water and hazards all over the place - make sure you get the ball off the ground on just about every tee shot! The greens were about 3-weeks post-aeration, so they still need a little more time, and the rough was heavy and thick --- I can't wait to play again soon to see how the maintenance staff brings it all together!

So on this same day I had a horror story from Old Hickory and we left mid round. We were in the area so I found this course on my GPS (3 minutes from Potomac Mills Mall) This is a great course with some hard holes, anyone above a 25 should stay away 1. you will shoot over 105 and two you will lose a couple dozen balls maybe on 6 alone. Anyway it was a little wet mid round but I will be back to take on this nice little course.
