I was very pleased with my experience at the Gauntlet Golf Club. This was my first time back in 3 years and I was astounded by the improved conditions of the course all around. The greens were rolling better than any other course that I've played in the area. The zoysia fairways were flawless and the roughs were much improved from what I remember. The staff was very friendly and the facilities were clean and well taken care of. I plan to return as soon as possible to play this beautiful golf course and I would reccomend it to anyone who wants a good challenge and a memorable experience.

I played this for the first time as part of a tournament scramble, thus I did not have my own score. The course was not in the best of shape but then again it's a public course. It's a shame because the layout of the course is pretty nice and it has potential if money is spent to fix it up properly.

The course was in decent shape for the winter and the weather started cold warmed up and ended a little chilly but not too bad. Great place to play right now if you know the course. If you have not played here yet wait until the spring because they beauty of this place dose not show right now plus the winter conditions will eat you up even if your a good golfer because this course is pretty hard.

Low75 here, your cub and only reporter on The Gauntlet on our annual trip to what we still consider one of the best. Despite the lack of rain and searing heat, the course has held up well. A couple of tee boxes are a bit worn, but the greens and fairways are still in good shape. See you next year!

Having played Stonehouse and Royal New Kent in Williamsburg last week, the Gauntlet was easy. Yeh, right! Still a great track in its normal good condition. Gas and golf index from Arlington was $35.

Once again, the Gauntlet was in great shape and a "fun" place to play on a sunny and warm summer morning. I am particularly partial to the fairways where the ball sits up and makes iron and fairway woods shots much easier. I guess I would characterize this as a Northern Virginia Royal New Kent...if you know what I mean. Do you have the cohones to play the Gauntlet!?!?!? Gas and golf index from Arlington was $33.

As long of one of my five top courses in Northern Virginia is in excellent condition, I'm going to give it "5*s" across the board. This is not a track for the weak at heart, but we make the long(and "expensive") trek from Arlington two or three times a year just to keep our golf head screwed on tight. Fairways were great, greens were true and of moderate speed, and the golf and gas index from Arlington got us on the course for $38(check out clickateetime.com) on a Friday. As I have written before, Fredericksburg residents are fortunate to have this course.

One of the real joys of playing The Gauntlet is the superb zoysia fairways. If you're in the fairway, you really never have a bad lie. Greens were in fine shape, and the rough was thankfully not as penal as some others we've played this year. This is a different and very challenging track that we enjoy playing every year. Your performance off the tee will more than likely determine how well you play this course and, therefore, how much you enjoy it. Golf and gas index was $37 weekday(greens fee with cart was $29) carpooling from Arlington-golfers in Fredericksburg are fortunate to have such a fine and reasonably priced course to play.
