Great course, great staff, great conditions, great weather...not so great round!!! P.S. Maybe it's just me, but I never really notice the houses at Stonewall. Also, the back nine is one of the most scenic I play.

I'm not so sure how often I would play this course without our golf association scoring a $60 greens fee twice a year. Course is always in good shape, and it's the closest I'll ever get to RTJ!

This course is in very good shape but nothing special. I think it is one of the best public courses in NOVA but you would think there would be better ones considering the money in the area. The seperation between CC in the area and good public courses is a great deal. In any other area this is not a $100 course and that was with a discount. If coming from Baltimore don't waste your time or money we have much better places to play. With that being said other than quite a few divots the course was in good shape and some of the better greens I have played recently. If in the area check it out but like I said don't travel far for this one.

Greens had recently been aerated, and there were a noticeable number of divots in the fairway, but then it is Spring! Playing partners gave it all "4's." Still the best in Northern Virginia. P.S. I had thought long and hard about taking the day off to see the arrival of Discovery...it flew right over the course!!!

Nice course, but overrated. At $119 peak rate, it is the most EXPENSIVE course in NOVA. I have NEVER felt so claustrophobic from homes so close to the fairway--sometimes in BOTH SIDES.
The list of course I would play first is pretty long: Pleasant Valley, Old Hickory, Weastfields, Raspberry Falls, etc. -- ALL cheaper than Stonewall.
Nice Amenities, good conditions, interesting layout--just too many McMansions (built on postage stamps) crowding the fairway.

Probably the best public course in northern Virginia. Some say it is better than its next door neighbor, RTJ. I think its close, but it gets a lot of play, which tips the scale to RTJ, but you can'y play RTJ!

This may very well be the best public course in Norther Virginia, and today it was in its usual pristine condition. However, it is very pricey.

Great practice areas and great condition. Course is difficult with many sand traps and slick greens. Pace of play was slow due to snail-like group ahead and no marshals to move slow groups along. Some homes are built too close to fairways.

This is such a great course and gets consistently good or excellent reviews, I'm not sure that a review is really necessary...but, Stonewall was in great condition for this time of year. First beer in the clubhouse was your score, and golf and gas index from Arlington was $53.

Back at Stonewall for our annual splurge-senior rate a day in advance of $59 is worth every penny. Last month we got caught behind a high school match, and, since they were walking, we played the front nine in three hours. Management comped us for another round, so here we were on a cool, drizzly day. The fairways were beautiful, the greens were fast and true, and they must have been watering the rough unlike most other courses in Northern Virginia this year. So, after the round we hit the clubhouse, each of us scoring a beer and some goodies. Since I had won the day, someone else was paying...the bartender asked us what we had shot for the day(93/94/96), and that's what we go charged for the beers...I guess I shoulda lost! Thank you Stonewall-you have a great course, and we'll see you next year.

I have played this course for about 5 years now and the course is always in great shape no matter the time of year. I agree the course cost a bit more to play then most, but it's worth the money to play a first class course. The staff has always been great and the bar and food area are also run very well. I can assure my fellow golfers it's worth the trip and money top play!!

This is a great course. The practice range and putting green were in great condition. The course was as well. The tee boxes were well taken care of, the fairways green and fast. The greens were tricky and fast as well. It's a challenging course but rewards a well placed shot. I suppose the great course conditions come with the $120 green fee. I just wish I could afford to play there more often...

I've played this course around 5-6 times since I've relocated to the NoVa area. It continues to be my favorite for conditions. I play in less than 4 hours 15 minutes, rarely seem to wait except the 17th and 18th holes due to the 18th, course is always in excellent shape, including bunkers and the amenities are nice. Very scenic as well. The cart girl is the only complaint seeing them infrequently. I play this course at 4pm to get the twilight rate and save $50 off the peak hours. That's what makes this a good deal. $120 is a little steep for peak hours but if you join the Patriot Club you get a better deal and it pays for itself in around 10 rounds. I will join next year. Highly recommended.

I have played Stonewall several times in the past several years and have always found the conditions to be incredibly good. Additionally, it is a great value. My only drawback, is that is such a long drive from my home. Wish it were closer, I would play it more!

We play Stonewall once a year, scoring the Monday to Thursday Senior Rate of $59. This is a beautiful course which some say is an equal to the neighboring RTJ. Well, the fairways were not up to their normal high standards(many of the approach areas had a lot of filled divot holes), and the greens were riddled with ball marks, many of them unrepaired. If I was paying as much as I know they ask for weekdays and weekends, I would have been disappointed.

Stonewall is a great course with some pretty tough holes. I would compare Stonewall to Bulle Rock but just a bit better, plus it is much less to play. The course is surrounded by some nice looking estate houses and Robert Trent Jones golf course is in view.
