For those of you looking for a Course that will be enjoyable, affordable and challenging, take a look at Goose Creek. Played on Sunday and had a great time. Course is in great shape, Starters/Marshals are very cool people and will make your round enjoyable. Stop in and get something to eat and be amazed at some of the things they can put together. Note: You can purchase a Players Pass, which entitles you to a Free Round and if you only play on the weekends, will cost you $39.00 per round. Other Courses charge between $60 - $100 per round on weekends. That is Best Value in my book.

I played Goose Greek with a bunch of friends the previous week and enjoyed what the Kemper Groups, new Management Company had done, so my friends and I decided to go back, just to see if it was a fluke. Marketing / Sales: Like all Courses in and around the Metro Area, Goose Creek has a Players Pass, which cost $49.00, which gives the members a Free Round, discounted rates, and if you pay and play 3 rounds the 4th is free. Enough of the Sales review. We had a 10:30 tee time, and like the previous week it was a very slow round, but the Marshall on the 10th Tee said we were a little ahead by 5 mins. We did see a Marshal checking on pace of play, which is great for those of us, who go out and play only to wait and wait, because the group in front can't locate a ball or having issues getting on and off the greens. With that being said, Goose Creek is certainly a good public course to play. Also, they modified the 2nd and 3rd holes. The 2nd was a Par 5, and they made that into a Par 4, the 3rd, was a Par 4, but they placed a brand new Par 3. Also, Goose Creeks 9th Par 3, was rated one of the toughest holes in the Washington area.

My wife and I played this newly renovated course on Sunday 9/6. Where the renovations were noticable. We had to notify the marshall TWICE about slow/backed up play and the marshall, who was driving the course, "didnt notice". This is a tight course with players on different fairways only 30+ yards away from you hitting your fairway shots. While my wife was in a tee box, having already addressed her ball, two carts came flying in front of her with players yelling "I found my ball, over here". There was not apology and they were upset that my wife didnt yield to THEM!!

This course is a sneaky, tricky course. There are a few blind shots but the thing that makes it tricky are the greens. Very small and slick make for a tough but fun round. Course is in great shape. A complete 180 from a few years ago.

The Goose is back on track after renovations. I think the renovations took about a year and a half, and they are finally done. The course looks great and will definitely be one to play come this summer. I can't wait to go back.

OK, here is the problem with the current state of the Goose. There are currently only 16 holes open due to renovation. That is not a problem with me. It will be for the benefit in the long run. Hole # 11 is closed currently due to mighty Goose Creek cresting her banks and causing devistation. Look for this hole to be closed for a while. The greens are in great shape as are the fairways. A good course if you don't have time for 18 and 9 is not enough!

Currently, Da Goose is under construction. They only have 16 holes open. They are also only charging the winter rates of $30. By next spring, the course should be back up to its normal self. It should be worth the wait. Until March or April of 2008, find another place to play.
