| Despite what I'd heard and what had been written here, Augustine was actually in pretty good shape despite the lack of rain over the past month. Generally the fairways were good(there's still grass on the second fairway!)-a couple of them had been cut rather long and/or were thin, but they were more than playable, and one member of my foursome preferred them this way rather than the normal tight way they cut them. The greens were in good shape, and, although it appeared that several bunkers could have used more sand, I got out the three times I ventured there. The rough had been cut short, but because it's bermuda, the ball frequently disappears even though the rough is only a couple of inches high. I think that this a still a great track and am hopeful that the new management can restore it to being one of the best in Northern Virginia. Gas and golf index from Arlington was $32-gas up in Garrisonville. I'd really appreciate other reviews of this course, because this is my fourth posting of the five. |

| Hot-weather fairways are almost "in," and once we realized that the greens were slower than the practice green, they were perfect. And Number 2 had grass and was dry despite all the welcome rain we've had lately. Gas and golf index from Arlington was $38. |

| We played the last round of our semi-annual competition for the _______
Cup at Augustine on Saturday, and the course was in excellent shape. The traps had not yet dried out from the recent deluges, so they were a bit dicey, but otherwise everything was perfect-lush bermuda fairways and pristine greens of reasonable speed. We teed of at 10:30, waited a bit on the first two holes which might just be the most difficult openers in Northern Virginia, played at a relaxing pace until no one was in front of or behind us, let a fast-moving foursome blow by at the turn, and after that we had the course to ourselves on a Saturday- it's as if we owned the course! Gas and golf index carpooling from Arlington on a Saturday was $53(with a reduced rate from clickateetime.com), and it was worth every penny!!! |

| The great Bermuda fairways at Augustine have not quite come in yet, but this is still one of the best courses in the area. |

| I played Augustine before, around mid summer time, course had always been in great condition. This year I played it early, not fully green yet, although it is a must play course. |
