I think this course is underrated relative to some of the other Northern Virginia courses ranked above it, so we gotta do something about that. Staff is always great, pace of play on weekdays is great, greens were great, fairways will hopefully be great once they recover from being sliced and diced, the price was right, the clouds stayed around to delay the heat and humidity, we only had to drive a half hour to get to the course, and the predicted thunderstorms never arrived. Any questions? Oh yeah, we played good too!!!

We played 18 holes on this local course on a sunny but cool day in February. The conditions of the greens were what you'd expect in the off season: not as well kept as the summer. The fairways had a fair amount of leaves and tree branches. The course appeared like it had not been cleaned in a while.

The course was moderately busy, and we let one or two single players play through. The pro shop was basic, the bathrooms were a slight bit dirty. The staff was friendly, helpful and available.

The greens are the slowest you will find. The pace of play is really slow, too. I like the little course layout but the greens ruined the whole experience.

Warm sunny day...arrived early and starter got us out almost immediately...hooked up with two great seniors from Alexandria...course was is great shape for this time of year...still able to walk the course(carts were restricted to path)...a perfect day EXCEPT MY SCORE! We all want to play well even when we haven't been out for more than a couple of times in the past three months...

What a great course. Challenging, but not too difficult, and always in great condition. The staff is very friendly, and have done an incredible job throughout the 2009 golf season. Keep up the good work and I'll keep coming back!

Every Spring and Fall, we try to walk Greendale because it's usually in its best condition, the price is right, and the weather is "walkable." This time was no different as we hit the course on a sunny Fall day...Veterans Day to be exact. The greens were in great shape, and the fairways had been sliced and diced but were in good shape. On a holiday, $34 walking was a good deal, especially when we played well!

Recently aerated, both greens and fairways. It's been a bit wet so all the greens were long and fuzzy, with the aeration, I have played better Dec golf. The fairways were shaggy as well with the aeration, so it was just a fair day on the course. But it was still golf. Nice course, but I've played in Balto County (MD) and I have never seen their courses in shape like this, even with aeration. It cost $24 to walk.

Greens are cut high for durability and putt very slow. A fair amount of weeds in the fairways. Plenty of drinking water on course. Two small foxes help keep Canadian geese away.

90% of the players here are seniors/retirees and are playing in leagues. The staff is older, and the crew is good regarding the lack of crew presence currently hired. The stuff you can buy there is well-priced (best is the used-ball sale, you can pick out the ones you like) and you can get a tee time on certain websites for ~$20 with a cart, which should be the price. It's definitely not worth the $45 I paid. The fairways are choppy and spotty, the greens are bipolar, and the sand trap is dust and dirt, with shotty rakes for keeping-- don't bother raking the bunkers, it isn't necessary. The times I have played, during the week that is, there is no hold up waiting on those around you. The pace of play is quite advanced during the week. The layout is quite interesting, and a couple of holes, like #17, are extremely interesting and test your game. However, this is one of the those courses with potential that has the wrong owner. I wish there were ways for tax-payer courses like this to be better-kept. If you are fiending for golf and have some time during the week, or are not a local looking to squeeze in a round before your trip home, you might as well buy a time online for a good price. I would definitely recommend this for Parents looking to take their kids out during the summer, bring a lot of extra golf balls with you and you'll have a good time.
