I used to play here a few times a year, but the service at the front desk this last time was just horrible. This time I booked online to get a lower rate and you would think I was in Communist Russia, attributed directly to the online booking as stated by the cashier. Reading past reviews, I thought they were kidding, but they weren't. I thought they would have gotten rid of that guy by now, but unfortunately no.

I guess for the price its ok, but course is in bad repair, 50% of tee boxes are ok, the other 50% are in various stages of disrepair. Same with the fairways and greens. Some holes you can't tell the rough from the fairway, looks like somebody's lawn.

They must be doing ok because there are plenty of people who play it, but I don't know why. There are better courses out there for the same money or a little bit more. I travelled from Bethesda, and it wasn't worth the drive.

Been 2 yrs. since I've played. The course wasn't in terrible shape, but it wasn't in the best shape either...actually, compared to other courses in the same price range, not even average. We played the Meadows/Ridge. The pros: not very crowded, very friendly staff, and scatter with carts. The cons: crabgrass in fairways, tee boxes, and around greens; fairways thin in spots and showing above average wear with some dirt spots evident; the greens were very bumpy and showed dirt spots/chewed up places on several of the greens; and the bunkers were in horrible shape with stones/rocks and very little sand (in all fairness, though, the starter told us that in advance and suggested we just take relief). The bunkers are so bad, many of them are being left to seed and filling in with grass. This course has a variety of holes with 3 nines, but it's in dire need of some financial investment. For $55 + tax, it's overpriced. If you don't mind in-need-of-repair conditions, you might want to try it out.

For winter, in pretty good condition. Grass, of course, is dormant but there was plenty of it in the fairways. Greens in good shape but a tad bit bumpy, which is to be expected this time of year. GolfNow rate of $29 on Saturday morning, so a good deal. Finished in 4 hours.

Potomac Ridge continues to be a hidden gem. Three 9 Holes available with different looks and feels. The course is in great shape and the fairways and greens at this time of year don't show any damage from over watering or sun damage. Did not see a beverage cart girl, but did see the marshal making sure golfers kept the pace of play.

We were behind a large group and it took us 2 hours 45 minutes to finish the Meadows. On the turn we stopped to speak to the starter and he allowed us to play the Hollows. Finished that under 2 hours.

Great Value and Course

Course is relatively remote, and not surrounded by houses, which is nice. Staff was friendly, and even took the time to advise us that there was no beverage cart working today. Tee boxes were, for the most part, pretty chewed up - shows sign of heavy use from poor golfers and don't have time to recover. Fairways had some bad spots, but none that came into play for either of us. Greens were quite good other than some ball marks and some serious "spike" marks left by some heavy-footed individual who did not pick up his/her feet while walking around on the greens. Lots of trees make for a lot of blind shots - you will play this course better the second time. Nice layout with a good challenge. Played the round in 3 hours - no one was in front of us and the twosome behind us stayed a hole or two behind. Not a bad value for a good course within a short drive of the DC area.

Greens and traps were in excellent condition but the fairways were very thin (it looked like they had been scalped for the winter). Rough had a lot of bare spots. Tees were good. Course is cart path only for the winter so it is likely the fairways and rough will come back next spring. The snack bar is open with a limited menu. Good tee time value at $30.

Definitely improved over my last round a couple of months ago. The greens are in great shape. The fairways have some dirt spots here and there, but for the most part they are in good shape with a good foundation of grass. My only complaint is about the tee boxes...a fair amount of crabgrass and sparse grass on others. All in all, though, for $31 on a Saturday morning, it was a bargain. We also played in 4 hours (although we did play through two groups). It's clear the new owners are working on improving the course, so next year it should be much improved.

Vastly improved over my previous review from earlier in the year. Can't say it's excellent or even great, but the course is in very good shape. Played Meadows/Hollows and the fairways are much improved with mostly green fairways. There are still a couple of dirt patches here and there, but not nearly as bad as earlier in the season. Greens are in great shape. Bunkers have nice sand, but some grass growing in places. Tee boxes filling in, but some crabgrass sprouting. All in all, the course was better than I anticipated. Good pace of play. With Tee Time Book, only $35 w/cart.

Potomac Ridge has really gone done hill, and its a shame. I was very disappointed in Potomac Ridge during my last visit. Customer service was absolutely horrible, to the point I was told directly, "You are not the customer". It started with check-in where apparently my online reservation didn't come through with the discounted price of $27. I booked it at 10:30 am because that was almost half off the price at 10:00 a.m. and was worth the lower price. A friend was heading home that day and could have used that extra half hour, but for almost $50 discount, was worth waiting. Apparently it did not go through the system and we were charged $42. Was berated by the cashier, and basically was told I was lying and they wouldn't honor the discount. I don't know what was going on as I've played several tournaments there and make it a point to golf there a few times a year because the staff has always been pleasant and have always had a good time.

The poor service continued with the food service, where the counter girl was more intrigued with her smartphone and playing a game, than serving customers. She had difficulty ringing up the total, so evident that she was poorly trained.

The course itself was in serious disrepair. The tee boxes were in poor shape, and hadn't been moved in awhile as it was mostly dirt and divots. Some fairways were in good shape, others in very poor shape. I believe on the fourth hole of the Ridge, the cup was caved in one side. I don't know what happened, and can honestly say I've never seen that before. Looked like a goose had taken a few bites out of the edge or someone took a putter and pulled out a ball, taking out part of the cup.

The poor customer service continued with the grounds crew staying one hole AHEAD of us for several holes, watering the greens. The first hole they didn't bother turning off the hose, and told us to go ahead and hit. The second hole, apparently they thought better and turned off the hose. I would have preferred they waited, as there was nobody behind us.

There was no starter on the course, and we could have just drove all over the place playing continuously. Finally, I had earlier requested membership material, which the automatic reply was we will be in contact with you soon. I haven't heard from them, yet, and after my last experience it doesn't matter as I certainly will not be spending my money at Potomac Ridge in the future. Also, there was no one to complain to as management was not there (on a Saturday), and did not show up by the end of our game--so that explains why the course is in such disrepair and customer service was so poor.

There are many good courses in the area, no need to waste your money until they fix the course and improve their customer service.

Rack rate is $49 on a February Saturday, which is over-priced for the condition of the course. The fairways had muddy spots, and the only green were the weeds and crabgrass. From the tee box, a couple of the fairways looked like they ended because of the weeds/crabgrass when, in fact, you knew the fairway continued. The bunkers were like concrete with no rakes available. It's really a shame--with 3 nine's, this course can be nice but I'm not sure if they will be able to get this course back in tip-top shape.

First of all, let me say that the staff is always welcoming and helpful. We arrived early (to try to beat the rain) and they slipped us in 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, which we greatly appreciated. However, the course is in the worse shape I've seen it. The tee boxes are crabgrass and dirt, and the fairways and greens have patches of dirt. The bunkers surprised me the most--grass growing in them, stones, and some had no sand and clearly had not had maintenance for a while. The round was extremely slow as well. We waited on every tee and never saw a marshall all day. For a holiday when the course was crowded, this was preventable. Potomac Ridge has three 9's and is a decent layout, but it's no longer under Atlantic Golf so don't know how things will change, but it's needed. With a little focus on getting the course back in shape and managing the pace of play, maybe this will help to restore the course to a more pleasurable round.

We played at Potomac Ridge on a Sunday morning after overnight rain and threatening skies. The course probably needs a few more weeks to get the bermuda fairways filled in. Some hazards could use some trimming. We were told that we'd be playing the Ridge and Hollow 9's. But at the turn we were directed to the Meadows 9, not sure why, because the pace slowed down. Early season rates were in effect. We intend to go back and hope the fairways fill in.

First time on this course for me and I really liked the layout. Fairways, rough, tees, greens, and traps were all in excellent shape. Most greens had recent aeration in the rough just off the green. Excellent snack bar with a $6 special every day. Today was a meatball sub.

This is by far the neglected course of out the Atlantic Golf sites. The fairways are patchy in places and furry in others. It did not help my friend and my round when we got paired up with Gary McCord's twin brother. This guy always had something to say.

I played today on 2 of the 3 nine-hole courses in a friendly tournament today. The course was absolutely pristine today. We played around 8:30 am so the fairway was full of morning dew, but dried out after about 2 hours. The snack girl was very consistent, driving range and putting practice greens are exceptional, great club house (good food and well stocked shop), except for 1 particular glove I was looking for, and I understand if you want professional lessons....this is definitely a place to find the top of the line instructor. The staff is very friendly as well. Worth a great day in the sun. I'd def. play here again.

Recently visited Potomac Ridge on a warm weekday in January. Overheard several people discussing a decision by Atlantic Golf or the Brick Company to Close the Meadows 9 Hole Course, to make room for new homes. I tried to ask Course Management if this was true and all I was told, 2008 is certainly going to be an interesting season. I just hope the Brick Company knows what it is doing to Members, Duffers and to Organizations and Companies looking to host tournaments.

I highly recommend Potomac Ridge with its three nines of varying degrees of difficulty. My favorite is the Hollow. This course is really fine tuned for a public/private membership facility. Great grounds crew and starter/personal assistants, beverage cart, ice cold towels delivered while you're on the course, Cafe club house/terrace with everything, and a really well stocked Pro Shop. This Nike facility has PGA instructors, a great driving range, chipping area, sand trap practice and putting green. It's a must stop for serious golfers and newbys.
