Maryland National was in very good condition throughout.
The greens have not fully grown in yet. But, that may be the only item worth noting and not is not a problem. Some cool weather turf leftover here and there. Greens were cut close and rolled very well.
There are a few greens that are confusing to locate on approach. GPS is ok and has too many warning messages.
Fairways and rough were cut just right. Traps/bunkers are both sand and hard pan and raked and manicured very well.
The difference between white and gold tee boxes make a huge difference if you can't carry 225 accurately.
You will not be disappointed but your game will be tested.
I will be back soon.

Played a practice round and then participated in a two-day tournament. Have always liked this course--they keep it in pristine condition. The fairways are like carpet and gorgeous. And, the greens are interesting with subtle undulations and breaks, but extremely fast this past week (3 and 4 putt territory), more so than other times I have played. #18 always does me in, and these rounds were no exception. This hole tempts you into being aggressive, and it's a big mistake! It ruined my round...as it always does, and I just don't seem to learn. Not the course's fault! This is a great course, beautiful as you look across the holes from the clubhouse, and always in excellent shape. It can be a bit pricey, but it is worth a trip to play.

This course is in fabulous shape. From tees to greens, the course is manicured, lush, and beautiful. I noticed the huge tree on the #2 par 5 is gone--don't know how long it's been down, but it was a surprise not to have that as my target for my tee shot. Beside that one personal item, the fairways were in beautiful shape, as were the greens...and fast. The only thing I could even complain about (and not very much) were the bunkers--it had evidently rained quite a bit overnight and they were soggy. And, the nats were a bit brutal today. This is a really nice links course. From the clubhouse, you can see across the terraced holes and it is beautiful. We pretty much had the course to ourselves on a Monday at noon. It started off with cart path only, but that changed around #5, so it was a bit easier to locate balls. This course, even though some generous fairways, will test your ability to place your shots. And, most holes play longer (except for #16), so factor in the elevation changes up to the greens--it can add another club. This is a tremendous course. For Seniors it's $49 and military have a 40% discount, and with the Tee Time book you can get $20 off the $79 rack rate. It's definitely worth a try if you've never played it...and certainly worth repeating if you have. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant has great food very reasonably price. Tip: Call in your order on the turn as they don't have food ready. My hat is off to the Superintendent for keeping this course in excellent shape!

Course is in terrific fall condition. Greens hard and fast. Rolled in one birdie putt on #2 that looked like it was going to stop 6 inches from the hole but kept taking those last two revolutions and dropped into the cup with its last bit of momentum. You just don't make putts like that anywhere except greens like these - at another course when a putt slows down that much it just stops, or may start to wobble as imprefections in the green start to influence the putt. MN's greens are nearly free of such imperfections - but also have many subtle mounds and ridges that make reading putts here quite a challenge. Putted very well today so I'm pretty happy about that. Play your approaches to the front of these firm greens and you'll get your chances.

Paid $72 on Sunday. Course is in excellent condition. This is one of the top courses in the area right up there with Bulle Rock, Whiskey Creek, & Lake Presidential. Great 19th hole too

Course is in excellent shape. Greens and fairways are perfect. Rough is a little long and traps are "heavy", both probably because of the weekend rains. Good grill at reasonable prices. Greens fees are high for the area ($51.75 senior rate). Nearby Hollow Creek was only $37 and was also in excellent shape. Amenities here include free range balls and GPS on the cart.

They charge a lot for this course in the morning, but have had some good discounted rates in the afternoons this month which makes the drive out here (70 miles from home for me) worth making. The course itself is a gem. Greens are hard, fast and true - there's nothing like making a good putt and seeing it roll true to the hole, no wobbling as it loses pace. Of course it's also easy to run one 6 feet past!

The starter got us out ahead of a double-booked tee time so we had a pleasant 4 hour round. It's a shame when we finished there wasn't anyone within two holes of us, so obviously the groups back on the course were not moving at a good pace. At least we did our part.

Cart girl was working hard, we saw her 4-5 times and she was always ready with cups of ice to go along with our beverage orders. Good service today all around.

Course is currently in great shape and usually has some of the fastest greens in the area. Difficult course but fun layout with a lot of interesting holes, some birdie opportunities, risk/reward holes e.g. short par 5 #15 and drive-able par 4 #16. Finishing hole is brutal, a double-bogey (or worse) just waiting to happen.

We got around in 4 hours thanks to a pace-conscious group in front of us letting us pass them at the turn - I've never had a particularly slow round here. Course is a little overpriced these days considering it costs a little extra $$ in gas money to get here, but Father's Day weekend special was a good deal at $49 after 1pm.

Fairways, Tees and Rough are in great condition. Although the greens are rolling true, most greens have some scalped spots due to the recent heat and lack of rain. Fairway and greenside traps (where I spent most of the day) are excellent with a lot of loose fine sand. Greens fees are a little pricey but not bad for seniors during the week ($50). Great snack bar and friendly staff.

Maryland National is an excellent course. The conditions were above average except for a couple dead spots on a green or two. I am definitely adding this course to my rotation.

Course is in excellent condition. Layout is challenging with a lot of elevation change. Greens were fast with some subtle breaks for most putts. Staff was very friendly from the pro shop to the lunch bar. It was a very enjoyable round of golf.

Course was in decent shape. Fairways were being aerated so they knocked $20 off the price. Greens were slow but not bad.

Maryland National was in excellent shape. The greens were pretty fast and rolled true. Fairways were pretty much perfect. If you don't know the course I would recommend picking up a course book to help guide your way around the holes.
