Overall Rating: Reason for 4 stars: It will take players from Northern Virginia, about 45 mins - an hour. Weekend play costs $95.90 per. When you combine this with Dirt Bunkers on the back Nine, makes you wonder what is going on.

Greens Conditions: Spectacular shape for this time of year. It was rolling fast. However, because of the frigid temps, leaves covered multiple greens.

Fairway Conditions: Amazing Conditions.

Course Value: Fix the Bunkers with Sand.. Mixture of Dirt and sand will leave most golfers searching for other courses. On numerous holes, the bunkers only had dirt without a mixture..

Pro Shop: The day we played, it was very windy with frigid temps in the mid 40's. Not many players on the course. The staff in the Pro shop was very friendly and suggested we wait for our entire party to arrive and make a decision if we wanted to play or not. The reason, if we pay, we could only get a Rain Check and not a Refund. We appreciated that.

Food Services: Great Staff.. Food is exceptional.. No Food or Beverage Services on the course during our round. While having a late lunch, we did notice the furniture had seen better days "wheels to chairs kept falling off". The staff told us new furniture was being delivered in the coming months.

Overall: I have played several course in Northern Virginia and Maryland and nothing can compare to Musket Ridge views. In fact while we were coming up to the 18th green, a wedding was in full gear and in the restaurant, a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner was being prepared.

Course is in good condition. Greens show a little bit from aeration but looks like they are rolling them regularly. Medium speed but not a problem. Fairways are very nice.
Beautiful course with friendly staff (mowers will stop for you to play through).
I need to play a second round now that I know what to expect. Mountain links style layout.
One thing that bugged me was the carts are kept what felt like 100 yards back from the greens for approach shots. Makes for a lot of back and forth to the cart or carring extra clubs around the greens.
No gps but would help if you had one.
Will play again.

Off-season is here, and at a place like Musket Ridge that means greens are firm but a little long and grainy, fairways are in good shape, bunkers are a little hard-packed. One nice advantage, the hip-deep gorse is now mown down in most places, a wayward drive can now be usually located and often played as it lies. On a day like today, a brisk 45 degrees and most of the weekend yahoos putting their sticks away and watching NFL instead, we had the course to ourselves and made it around in 3.5 hours (walking).

Course is showing the signs of having hosted the Symetra tour event August 20-26, especially the greens. To get the greens into competition condition they were triple cut and rolled every day. A good hard 4-5 days of hot sun would have baked them dead, but they survived the ordeal, though not without some damage. Greens are still pretty hard and fast but now have some dead spots. The rough around the greens is also fairly dried out and beaten down. Fairways are in good shape.

Course is in great shape. Some of the tee boxes were pretty worn out but that's because they're saving certain teeing areas for the upcoming Symetra tournament. Gorse is thigh-high so hit it straight, only way to find a lost ball is to accidentally step on it.

I agree with the sentiment here that this course is not worth the $95 they charge for a weekend morning, but their rate structure is basically the same as many other premium courses in the central Maryland region (e.g. Maryland National, Worthington Manor, Blue Mash, etc) and this course is definitely on a par with those.

First time playing Musket Ridge....Very nice Practice Area and Range,Helpful Staff, Wall to Wall BentGrass w/ intermediate Rough's cut down to +/- 1.5 ", Very Undulated and Contoured, Many Elevated Tee Shot's, Massive and Numerous Bunkers. A few spots here and there have burned from this recent heat, but still very nice playing surfaces. Most all Holes are isolated so that you only see the hole that you are playing. Kudo's to all involved here at Musket Ridge...it was a great golf expierience. The Sybase Tour is playing here in a few weeks, check it out.

This course is not in the shape it should be in for them to charge what they do to play. Everything there was just ok and average at best. I have seen this place in much better shape and I doubt I will be returning because this is the second time over two years I have been suckered into overpriced rates here. I'm not a huge fan of courses in this area to begin with. The course is not maintained well and the greens were slow and bumpy.

I joined this course last year as a Blue-Gray member and have been enjoying paying $40-50 greens fees at 2pm for a course that charges $95 on weekend mornings. I think it's a little overpriced at $95 but for $40 you just can't beat it.

Musket is in great shape, and experience shows they know how to keep the conditions good even during a hot summer. Today the greens were a little softer than usual, perhaps they had done some extra watering. It made me able to stick some iron approaches that on another day might have rolled to the back of the green. The rough is a little heavy, and if you hit it into the gorse forget about it, it's so long and thick you can barely walk in it.

Keep it in play and the course really isn't too tough. Some subtle greens but nothing crazy, some very cool risk/reward holes giving eagle opportunities if you can pull off a great shot.

Not in $101 shape. The greens were in bad shape and the bunkers were even worse. When we got there we were asked if we wanted to join the blue-grey membership and again and we told them no. The manager looked really upset and told me I was missing a real bargain. They had already taken advantage of us in the past promising a free round, but when we received the coupon it was only good for mon-thur but he failed to mention that beforehand. We will not be going back again this year

Course is in good winter condition. Greens are very good, but with some damage to permanent winter holes caused by the wind blowing the flags over. Traps are soft in spite of recent snow melt and freeze/thaw cycles. Greens fees are a little too high for Winter golf conditions.

Was invited to play in a charity golf outing and was blown away by the course. Tremendous views, excellent conditions, and a challenging layout. Lots of elevation changes make it frustrating at times, but the constant need to play smart and strike well make it more than worthwhile. Excellent facilities and knowledgeable staff. Cannot wait to try the course during a regular (non-scramble) round!

Course is in process of aerating greens. Back nine was closed so had to play the front nine twice. Aside from aeration, all other aspect of the course were excellent. Snack bar is pricey but with a large menu and large portions.

I usually compare Musket Ridge with its next door neighbor Maryland National. When MN opened it started out by winning those comparisons. However, conditions at MN have deteriorated, while Musket has stayed solid. I've found I prefer Musket's layout as well. It has also held up in this summer's weather better than most courses - tees, fairways, and especially greens are all in good shape. I wish it was a little cheaper, but at least they deliver quality for the price.

Course is in excellent condition after the weather this summer. Early morning special (half price in the first hour they are open) is an excellent value also. Greens were relatively fast and true. Traps were the best tendid I have seen anywhere this year. Tees were a little beat up, but playable. Snack bar was OK, but nothing special.

Played Musket Ridge on Father's Day for the third year in a row. This course is always in great shape, and the staff is very friendly. Pace of play can be slow at times, but the back-ups are usually associated with the par 3's which is not unusual. I highly recommend playing this course if you have not done so yet.

Played Musket Ridge for the first time yesterday in over a year and I couldn't have been more pleased with the course. The staff was very courteous, new golf carts (though no GPS yet) and the range was full of balls (included with your greens fee). The couse was in excellent shape fron the tees to the greens. The only small complaint was that some of the bunkers were low on sand. Overall, an excellent day. However, be careful what time of day you play because the greens fees vary greatly.

I play this course a couple of times a year, and this year conditions were a little worse than usual. Specifically, many of the bunkers were full of water after moderate rain the day before, and most of them had not been raked in days. Very disappointing to pay what this course charges and find the bunkers in terrible condition and the sand as hard as rock in many places. In my opinion, Musket Ridge lost some of its luster for me.

Overall, the course is in great condition for the 1st of August. The greens were great and the fairways were too. The service was great. In my opinion, this track could benefit from a few things... 1) a yardage book. 2) Sand in the sand traps (and there are lots of them). For $90 on a weekday, I should be able to hit from sand when my ball finds a trap. It was like hitting from the parking lot. 3) This course should be mapped for Sky Caddie.
Those are my only complaints. All in all, the course was beautiful, the pace was excellent and the beer was cold. I would rate it a 9/10.

I've been golfing for about five years, and I must say this course is the best I've ever played on. I took a lesson from their Golf Pro, Larry Ringer, and he really was patient with me and gave me some great tips to improve my game. The course is really beautiful, and my sister is even considering having her wedding in their new banquet pavilion! I definitely would recommend this course for beginners as well as advanced players. It really doesn't get any better than this.

Dont let the secret out, Musketridge is one of the best places to play in the DC area and a bargin! From the time you get there it is run like a first class facility. The staff is friendly and greets you at your car to take your clubs. They have a beautiful club house with brand new events facility next door. And when you step out the back of the clubhouse to begin your round, the view is absolutely spectacular. Course was in great condition, chalenging at times, but a good variety of holes. The foursome I went with all had a great time and plan on going back soon. Enjoy!

Very nice layout and appealing to the eye; although, I found the fairways to have a rubbery feel. You can't take a divot. It is very soft grass but it is so dried out it its rubbery. This made the day very annoying. The greens on the course are nothing like practice green. Very long and hairy, not true at all. Good course otherwise and especially when the conditions are better. For now, avoid it if you like taking divots.

Guys, this place is a steal. The rolling hills and Augusta like greens are enviable. The course provides a challenge for every skill level with its five sets of tees. The overall service is great too. If you are from the Baltimore area, take a ride out to Myersville and play this gem, it's a pleasure.
