Tee Time was at 9:24 am
Course: Starter my group off on time. 90 degree rule was in affect. Both fairways and greens were soft. We noticed on the back 9, several greens were damaged. Not sure this course is worth $72.00.
Beverage Cart: Well stocked - saw her twice, once on the front and once on the back.

Played on a hot Saturday afternoon. Staff was very nice - drove a cart out to the car and loaded the clubs. A quick check-in, and we were off to the range. Although there are mats, they were set up for using the grass area. Starter was polite and prompt in collecting the players in time for the first tee. We were paired up with another two players - they played from the blues, and I played from the whites. 90-degree rule for carts due to heavy rains earlier in the week. The tee boxes were in great shape. The fairways had divots, but not too many - about half were filled properly. Fair course - not wide open, but not too restrictive. A few holes will play easier with some experience due to angled fairways from the tee boxes, but you can post a good score here (I did!). The greens were in great shape, minus the ball marks which were scattered around, but not so many as to cause problems. Staff members, in shirts and ties nonetheless, were driving the course and offering iced towels (a very nice touch on a hot day). Finished in a few minutes over 4 hours. A staff person showed up on hole 18 while we were putting out to clean the clubs. Nice clubhouse, with a nice view of hole 18. Limited menu (not a full service restaurant), but all the basics. A good deal (Golfnow) at this course makes it a "will come back" course.

After waiting for the heavy morning rains to stop - and they were heavy - the two of us teed off. Understandably, the course was very wet, but drained well as there was standing water in the fairway in only one place we saw. Still, the ground was squishy-wet so it was a cart-path-only day. Even so, we were able to finish the round in a little over 3 hours. The greens were in really good shape and rolled true, but unfixed ball marks were fairly common even on a low-traffic day. Tee boxes were fine, but the fairways were pocked with divots - some had been filled with the sand provided, but several were not. Still, neither of us stopped in a divot. Fairway and green bunkers were very wet (again, no real surprise with the morning weather), but were rockier than I would have expected at a nice course. This is a nice course for a reasonable price ($55 on GolfNow), and is a good test of golf that's not too punishing from the white tees. Staff was very friendly, especially despite having to deal with a lot of uncertainty, rain checks and cancellations. Nice deck to sit on and watch the golfers coming into 18 over water.

Unfortunately...disappointing!! Never played, but heard wonderful things. I guess I had my expectations too high, because I was very disappointed. The tee boxes are mostly crabgrass, and the fairways are full of unrepaired divots and inconsistent grass. The bunkers are thick, heavy dirt (not sand) with pebbles throughout. The greens were the only feature I thought in good shape. I will say, though, that the staff is very nice, and helpful. Thumbs up for them. Rack rate on a weekday morning is $72, but $52 w/the Tee Time Book. Unfortunately, even at $52, it is overpriced for the conditions sorry to say. Not interested in playing again.

Greens were ten on the stimp and in excellent condition, and the course was closing behind us so that they could aerate them. Seemed such a shame, but that's just part of the continued upgrading of the course to what it once was. On the 18th tee, I said that even a bad round could be diminished by parring it. Good drive...cleared the water shooting at the green...and got down in four from 50 yards out. Oh well, I'll be back to try again soon...

This was the first time I ever played here and i'm sorry for that because it was a great course. Sure it was the middle of the winter but the course was still in good shape, I can only imagine what it looks like in the warmer months. The course played long but fair with some interesting holes. The pro shop and restaurant were very nice as well. Nice clean bathroom facilities also a plus. The only thing this course was lacking was good yardage markers. If they added GPS to their carts and even charged $5 more a round I would have nothing bad to say. Oh one more thing on a few holes the cups were dinged up, I'm not sure if it was from other golfers (I doubt) or the groundskeeper did not do a good job. With that being said $60 was slightly above what I like to pay for winter golf but I had a good time.

Bull Run is in a lot better shape than it was last year. New tee boxes of what I think is Bermuda grass on every hole, all fairways are green and lush, and while a couple of greens and the rough are a little sparse in places, the course is in good shape. Gas and golf index from Arlington was $42, and gas was $3.35 at Sheetz!

Was in pretty good shape, but 18th is still a very strange hole that I cannot figure out how to play with the second shot over water with a couple of trees in the way.

Bull Run is beginning to show the results of the new management that recently took it over. New grass on the tee boxes, no more black fungus on the fairways, entire fairways being replanted, etc. Give is a nice rain and a quiet winter, and it should be back to being one of the better tracks in Northern Virginia early next year.

FYI, Bull Run is now managed by the same group that owns and manages Raspberry Falls, Old Hickory, Blue Ridge Shadows, and Cannon Ridge...so it's finally making its hopefully last comeback to being a fine golf course. Greens were good, fairways were coming back from the last black plague, and as we played they were putting in new tee boxes all over the course. Gas and golf index from Arlington was $42.

Course layout has always been outstanding. Fell into poor conditioning over last several years. Has now been taken over by Raspberry/Old Hickory Mgt. Has improved immensely in just last month and will continue to improve each week. Less expensive that its sisters, Raspberry and Old Hickory. Well worth playing. I really enjoyed my round there. Fine and varied holes. Give it a try

Whenever we play Bull Run, we're always curious as to just what kind of shape it's going to be in. Well, this time, we were rewarded with the Bull Run we remember and like to play-rough was up due to the recent rains, fairways were back in shape, and, even though the greens had recently been aerated, they were smooth and true. This is a good course that periodically seems to fall into disrepair, and it was heartening to see it back in shape. Gas and golf index carpooling from Arlington was $46.

Bull Run is a great course that seems to get run down over the year. I love the layout, but the conditions were subpar. Many of the greens were not in good shape, the rough was burnt or uneven in many places, and tee boxes were not well kept. I hope the management gets on top of their game and can turn this course back around.
