The Wizard is a course I always enjoy playing, however, I was a bit surprised this year. It was extremely windy and cold (38 degrees at tee off), and the winds whip around many of the holes since it's a links-style course. The mounding on the sides of the fairways do help in staying off the wind, but as soon as you move away from them and into the open, it makes for a tough day. And, with a slow round, it was miserable today. The course was a bit chewed up in the fairways and even on the greens. As well, it was wet from the previous night's rain, and was cart path only which was tough on club selection. For a "theme park style" course, this is a fun course in better weather and better conditions. The clubhouse is a novelty--built to look like a Scottish castle--with a modest menu selection. Not a premier course, so the package price of $93 was a bit pricey in my estimation. Not a course I would play every trip, but one worth trying out. There is plenty of opportunity for scoring on the wide fairways. But, stay off the mounds!
