First of all, it's been raining for 4 days now, so the course being pretty soggy was to be expected. And, I know it is under new management and they are working on trying to bring this course back in good shape. This is a nicely laid-out tract and is a nice test of your skill, with equal amount of holes giving you an opportunity to score. Unfortunately though, the course is in rough shape. The tee boxes are torn up, and many of the greens have no sod in places...large dirt spots. The fairways have some really nice grass in places, but it, too, has dirt spots, really thin in places, and crabgrass growing throughout. In many instances, I couldn't tell the difference between the fairway and the rough. Finally, the rough was 3-3.5 inches long and like hitting out of hay; as well, the bunkers were swimming pools (but I give them a pass on that because of all the rain). Again, I know they are working on trying to recover this course, but it really needs a lot more time and TLC. Patriots Glen is 1.5 hours for me, so I'll wait for a while before going back. The good news for today...no rain in Elkton!
