I played a round at Forest Park the other day if you live in Brooklyn or Queens, this is a great course. I take the subway, and it is accessible by train on the J line. Being a city golfer with no car it is tough to play and practice, so it nice to have this course available. The pro-shop staff was great, and check-in was easy($35 to walk at 9:45am). One major downside to this course is that there are not any practice facilities. There is no range and the only area to practice anything is a putting green located on the other side of the 3rd hole (you have to cross fairway of 3rd hole). The course was in good shape for the most part with only a few tee-boxes that needed help, and only a couple greens with areas that were completely unacceptable (dirt showing on areas on green but nowhere near hole) The beverage cart was consistently checking in on us which was great because it was a hot day. On the 9th tee they were grilling burgers for the turn and it was the perfect refueling that I needed. The course is not easy (although there are a couple very short par 5's) but it is not difficult either. Narrow fairways covered with trees, and greens that are on the small side make it a challenge. I recommend this course to anyone in the city who wants to get out there and hit them, but only has subway system to get around.
