Course was in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens excellent shape. The only place I saw any brown spots was on #18 approaching the green and in the rough (where you expect it),. I have always liked this course...lots of variety in holes and shaping your shots. Even with all the rain, the ball bounced a fair amount, especially approaching the green. Sand was nice, but didn't have much depth--dig too deep and you will hit the base. Greens were in great shape, but running a tad fast and with some undulations which threw the ball off line. Had five 3-putts, which I never do! Try to get it as close to the pin as you can. We had a slow foursome in front of us and waited on almost all holes, but it was still an enjoyable round. For $32 w/Tee Time Book, you can't go wrong. Worth the drive into Greencastle, PA.

Greencastle Greens is in excellent shape. The fairways are lush and nicely manicured, and even the rough is filled in and cut so that it looks like a lawn. The sand in the bunkers was a bit packed, but that was most likely from the previous night's rain. The only fairway not completely up to par was #18--looked like they added some drainage and there are some dirt spots just in front of the 100 yard marker. Last year when I played, I mentioned the cart paths were in bad need of repair. Well, they have rerouted some cart paths (#5 and #17) and asphalted almost all paths. They were in great shape! With the Tee Time Book, seniors played for $15 and the regular rate was $44...still a bargain. Great course with some interesting holes.

We played Greencastle Greens on a Monday. The course is in great shape despite the heat we have had on the East Coast. We payed $27 (Senior Rate)
For 18 holes, cart, And Lunch. (I am sort of loving getting old.) Greens were in great shape But try to stay below the hole. Fairways were nice and rough was easy to get out of because of the heat. Bring lots of bug spray because there are lots of gnats flying around. We teed off 1 hour early and played the round in a little less than 4 hours. The staff is great and the starter is very nice. I especially like the par threes on this course. No 6 is a tough par 3 through a chute about 187 yards from the whites. No. 11 is an uphill par 3 that plays at least 1 club longer than the yardage. The 10th hole is a very nice par 4 with an island green. Overall a great course and a good value as most of the Pa. courses we have played are.

This course is a nice layout and has some challenging, as well as giving, holes. The uphill #3 par 3 is beautiful, particularly when the waterfall is running. The rough had some brown spots, but overall the fairways, greens, and even rough were in great shape for the lack of rain. The cart paths need work, but it looks like they are laying some new asphalt--just watch out for some of the washouts. Staff is always friendly and the pace of play is typically good (4 hours). It's only a little under 1.5 hrs from the Baltimore area, and worth a quick trip for a good bargain.
