Course is in great condition. Very challenging but fun course. Pace of play was great for our 0830 tee time. Tee boxes were in great shape, a couple had some excess sand. Would recommend this course for sure!

My third review of this course in a month but just an update after the aeration. Except for hole #1 that is well shaded the course is in prime condition and should be played. Nothing more to add to my previous recent reviews. I see myself playing here a lot this year.

This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to play in the Baltimore area (within 1 hour). At this point and having played both Lake Presidential & Bulle Rock twice in the past month I give the nod to Lake Presidential. I don't care for the mindless bird brain working in the restaurant who twice now has taken 20 minutes to get me a Gatorade & hot dog with no one else waiting. Anyway the course is in great shape aerated not too long ago you can hardly tell. This course in the nest two weeks will be in prime shape. If they had better rates they would kill there. The course is tough but if your on you can score well because you can get some favorable rolls. If you have not played here then spend the extra $30 and give it a shot you will enjoy it very much. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they have a decent driving range there too.

Greens were aerated a few weeks ago & you can't really notice that now. They are firm and rolling nicely. Fairways are firm, get a lot of roll. Course is in great shape albeit a little dry. (needs some rain). Played for $49. Good value for a course of this caliber.

They just aerated the course so the greens are very slow. The course looks to me like it will be in the best shape it has ever been in come mid April. I always like the views there but I thought the course was just ok. Now the course is nice but the views are going away with all the houses going up. I also played with someone who lives there and he said they are only 1/3 of the way there. The other problem is the noise with the construction. Anyway give this course another month and jump all over it. This place gets hacked up for some reason quick so don't wait too long.

Fairways and greens were aerated, so I've rated the course below average. A more fair price would have been $39 during a weekday instead of $49, but we booked online and didn't realize they had aerated. Tee boxes and bunkers in good shape, but don't expect much for another two weeks or so due to the aeration. Like some other golfers' comments, nice course but nothing special--there are nicer courses in MD and NoVA with fairer pricing. Good food, but also pricey.

It was our groups first time playing at this Course. The cost to play at this course is certainly not cheap, so I want to put that out first. Checked in and paid for our round, was greeted outside by the starter who handed us, a Xerox Copy of a Scrore Card. I asked him what was with the Paper Card? He said the USGA was looking over the course and certain changes would be made, so they are reprinting new cards. Regardless of Paper or regular Score Card, get a Yardage Book. It will certainly help you in your round. So many hidden things around this course. The course is beautiful and the fairways and green are in amazing shape. We played from the Black Tees, and figured out quickly some of the carries over water and ravines are very long, but it made things challenging. Our overall experience was great. The Club house was another positive experience. They Bevarage Cart girl was great.. They have everything on the cart.
Cons: For such an expensive course, we did see a portable bathroom located on the backside. On the 9th if you wanted something to eat, you could text your order in? Blind shot on the 3rd Hole - It would be wise the course puts some sort of warning device up, for people teeing off on the 3rd. We did not see the group in front of us and we hit our tee shots. When we traveled over the hill, the group in the front was looking back at us, and said several of our balls rolled up near them. |

Played Lake Presidential again for $99 on a weekday. I am not sure where some of the players that reviewed the course play, but Lake Pres does not compare to the premium courses around DC area such as Raspberry Falls, Stonewall, Laurel Hills, and Westfield. I can play these courses for less but with much better greens and layout. Lake Pres has the worse finishing holes 9th and 18th. Course lacks definition and greens are a real disappointment. Greens are so slow, we need to layup on a 10 foot putt (sarcasm). If I’m paying premium fees, I expect premium greens not some shag carpet to putt on.
I only play courses with fast green and the premium courses I mentioned above are my regular courses. If given the choice to play at Lake Pres for $45, I’ll pass.
Over all, course is over rated and overpriced. Food was pretty good.

When you arrive at this course you know you are in for something spectacular. Lake Presidential is all you can ask for and more. Right before we teed off the starter said, "this is a big boy's course" and he was not kidding. Each hole presents a new challenge, no two holes are even close to similar and the scenery is just spectacular throughout. You can clearly tell the designers of this course had a true vision.
Now on to the conditions - when many of the courses around the area have suffered from the heat, there were no signs of stress anywhere on the course. From the flat perfectly groomed tee boxes to the greens there was barely a blade out of place. This was my first time at Lake Presidential and it will surely not be my last. |

Fantastic course. Greens were overseeded recently, but don't have aeration holes. Rough is grown in in most places and very penal. 6-10 inches sometimes around bunkers. Layout is challenging but fair if you play away from trouble. Its a must play if you love golf.

Did not open the clubhouse until 8:20 as the staff was late to work. The putting green was closed, and on a sunday...wow! Thought we would give it another shot, but boy were we mistaken. On one of the holes the Marshal was on his cell phone talking about the party the night before! Instead of apologizing the manager on duty stated.."haven't you ever been late to work?" The course is nice but the people need to be trained better!

The course is in great condition. This is a very fun track to play. I particularly enjoyed the raised and lowered greens. The clever placement of mounds around the green made you think about shot placement into the green. Even though we had an issue with our tee time, the staff was willing to work with us to make sure we had a pleasant experience. Please note that the practice green runs a lot faster than the actual greens on the course.

This is a nice course. It is tough. We started on the 10th and right off the bat I was in 10 inch rough on the face of a fairway bunker and had to pitch out. It is set up nicely though. The greens have a lot of slope and are tiered with runoff areas. The rough is thick and uniform. A lot of holes require strategy. Be ready to pull an iron off the tee on some par 4's to avoid trouble and prepare to be tested.

Played several months ago and it was excellent. Now about half the greens look like they've been replaced, are shaggy and recently sanded. There are big patches of fairways undergoing re-sodding. What a disappointment. Overall in terrible shape. Hundreds of workers all over the place. One of the marshalls said the heat and rain in July clobbered the course.

Played Lake Presidential on 8/08/08 after assurances from Ann Ramos (Golf and Event Administrator) that the course was in great shape. I drove over 1 hour in rush hour traffic and paid the $100 greens fee. The club house was beautiful and the staff very cordial and accommodating. The practice range was real grass and very lush. The course, however, was another matter. While the course is beautiful, it is not quite ready for play. Many of the fairways on the front nine were saturated with water…it seems to be due to a severe drainage problem. The back nine fairways were in much better shape. However, while there was only one problem green on the front side (don’t remember which one), all but 2 of the greens (11 & 18) on the back nine were in terrible shape….where the grass was alive it was long and shaggy and many had areas of dead grass or recent large patches. Tee boxes were all in pretty good shape but tee marker placement was erratic…on some tee boxes the back tees were on the championship box and on others they were either on the back or middle boxes. I played with a friend and he had the same opinions as me. Overall, wait at least a year and maybe then your'll get your money’s worth.

This is a nice course. Every avid golfer should give it a try. It is unlike any other I've played around here. Buy the $8 layout booklet before you play the first time, because there is a lot of blind shots and blind trouble. There is lots of water, and a lot of shaved runoff areas around the greens. It is a beautiful layout and the staff was very helpful and nice. All the tees weren't in play yet, but I believe 3 of five were in play on all the holes. The teeing ground grass was a little long, but the fairways and greens were great.

Just opened last month. Fantastic layout - not one weak hole. Good decision by management to wait until this year to open it. Best green surrounds in the area. If you're not on the green you're in a trap or a collection area twenty yards from it. Will be among the best in the area. Doesn't need to mature much more.
