Haven't played this course since 2000. I remember liking the layout and the scenic views--that hasn't changed. The layout is nice--not overly difficult--and the scenic views are still beautiful (although there are more houses lining the course than I remembered). I was surprised, though, that the fairways were in average shape as there were patches of dirt in many of the fairways. The rough was also showing signs of wear and tear with rough splotches of dirt and dried up grass. The tee boxes were a tad long--needed cutting. The bunkers and greens were in good shape. You do not go back to the clubhouse on the turn and the beverage cart did not have many options for food, so you better take something you like with you. The rack rate on a Saturday is $56.50 + tax ($59 and some change) so not bad; but the travel time is about 1 hr 50 mins from the Baltimore area. The round was about 4 hrs 30 mins to complete, but we waited on every hole.

I enjoyed The Woods. One suggestion: If you normally play the "blue tees" beware. Their blue tees are the tips, and unless you can really bust it, move to the white tees. I'm an 8 handicap and it was plenty of golf course for me from the whites. They also have an 18 hole executive length course, which I did not play, but what I saw of it looked good. The greens were in really good shape. My only complaint was that I was playing on a Thursday late in the day
and wanted to rush to get 18 in, and I had the slowest gas cart I've ever encountered. I probably just picked a lemon, but I think it added 10 to 20 minutes to my round. But that is nit picking. It;s really a fun little course in the woods that was reasonably priced and enjoyable.
