I'm pretty sure the lakeview course was an award winner once upon a time. I encourage you to read one of the funniest articles written about a golf course by Stan awtrey. He writes about the course as if it is the 1980's or whenever the course was cared for. He goes on to write about the 18th hole and how nobody has ever reached the green in two. It plays 602 from the whites, with a dogleg and an elevated green. Very comical. He makes it sound like a wonderfully hard hole when in all actuality it is just a dumb golf hole. It is as reachable as an 800 yard par 3. That doesn't make the course good it just makes it an impossible hole. Also he speaks of the devilish first cut. Listen, intentionally leaving your first cut the same length as the rough is pure stupidity. I am fine with it if you simply don't care about the course but please stop trying to sell it as devilishly hard. The first cut is just about three inches long. So when you hit a nice shot in the fairway and then the difficulty of the slope of the course has your ball trickle an inch or two into the first cut, you are rewarded with a shot out of the rough a.k.a the first cut. Anyway that is to the award winning lakeview course. Now I can write for days about this joke of a course at mountainview but the three pictures I uploaded should say it all. The easiest way to see that a course has been let go is to see grass growing in the bunker. Also, if you play this course you should go ahead and pull it out of the bunker as to not damage your club on the fist sized rocks that are in it. If you are driving through the area and are looking for a decent course to play, just keep driving. Within 30 minutes of Lakeview you can find actual golf courses at nemacolin resort, PA and the wisp resort in deep creek, MD. Enjoy the pictures I uploaded, it truly says it all. By the way I would have rated the course lower but it wouldn't let me give negative star value.
