Met some friends at Cacapon--haven't been there in years. Only 2 hrs. from Baltimore and $46 w/cart for weekday regular rate, and $33.50 w/cart with the Tee Time Book, which is a real deal. The course is in good shape...some burned out spots on some fairways and the edges of a few greens but not a big distraction. Bunkers needed to be raked--they were packed from the overnight rain. The greens were rolling a bit slower than normal, but probably not cut or rolled due to recent storms and expected heat. Tips are 6827 72.1/134 and the whites are 6267 70.0/129. The red tees are a little longer than the average course at 5647 72.9/128. Nice breeze today and no one else on the course for a 12:04 tee time. We finished in a about 3.5 hrs. Great track--no houses or roads/traffic, and only wildlife.

Great value. It's a state park course, but don't let that discourage you. The design is classic, with some interesting twists and great use of the land. Greens were in really good shape, as were the fairways. The holes were fair, but challenging. And while the greens did not have some of the tricked up type of mounds and humps that you see in modern courses, there were a few holes where your position on the green was critical. Subtle use of gravity in the design made it imperative that you be below the hole on some of the greens. I went there as a single, early on a Saturday morning, had no trouble getting paired up with someone, and the pace of play was really good for a weekend morning. I agree with the other reviewer that to play a Robert Trent Jones Course for under $50 is an incredible bargain. If I'm ever back in the area (I'm from Texas) I would gladly return to this course.

If I had to describe this course in one word it would be "AWESOME". A Robert Trent Jones course that is in spectacular shape and under $50. Can't beat it. Well worth the 2 hour drive from Baltimore.
