My foursome (15-20 handicappers) play once or twice a month and we found this course to be VERY challenging. It was not set up for the average weekend golfer. The PGA probably could have played a tournament here. Unless you hit it straight, you're in trouble. The fairways aren't the widest and neither is the rough, which means all that is left is the thick, matted, butt- high tall grass. And if your ball goes in there, don't even think of looking for it - it's gone. It became very frustrating for all of us. I could tell my group was losing interest in the round when we got to the 15th hole and 2 of them said, "only 4 holes left". As weekend golfers, we don't mind paying to play the top level courses, but we want to enjoy the experience, and we really didn't have fun here Saturday. And for the price, the course was lacking in several areas. There was no GPS, which is almost standard nowadays. No info on the day's pin placements. It was our first time here and the tee markers that depict each hole are very simplistic and look like cave drawings. They were no help at all. And there was no hospitality cart. Maybe alcohol would have made our round more tolerable.
Overall, on the positive side, staff was friendly. Pace of play was great, but that's because there is no need to look for wayward tee shots. You just drop a ball. It's what we did, the group ahead of us did, and the group behind us did.
Wyncote was a course that we heard so much about and wanted to play and we did. But, one time is enough for us. We'll go play other courses that offer more perks for the $ and a better playing experience for the average golfer.
