TAKE NOTE: Early march! Winter conditions existed. MD's Eastern Shore and Sussex County DE is experiencing a lengthy period of cool and very wet weather, so much so that 3 consecutive days without rain could be considered a drought. Heck, even a rain delivering less than 0.5 inches would be nice. If it got to 50*, it was a heat wave.
The West Course greens had been aerated the previous day, so we played the East Course. East had been opened a week and the greens were aerated just before opening; thus their rating is low due to that. The Zoysia fairways were still brown and pretty soggy or had casual water. The traps: firm wet sand wet, some standing water. The lake on #18 was overflowing to the point that it was outside the marked hazard area by as much as 20 feet. Nothing that some warmer, drier weather wouldn't cure. Hopefully, that will happen before the Easter holiday. What was not weather/time of year related is the annoying condition of the cart parts. Potholes and patches in need of patches.
Course layout was forgiving, even with the 2-3 holes that are a bit more confined where they run through the woods. Fairway traps are virtually non-existent, water is in play but easily avoided.
Pro shop is large & well stocked. Grille prices are not price gouging for a resort area,
I wanted to play this course, having read and heard many good things about it. I just picked a bad day. I'll be back when the weather allows conditions to improve.
