TAKE NOTE: Early march! Winter conditions existed. MD's Eastern Shore and Sussex County DE is experiencing a lengthy period of cool and very wet weather, so much so that 3 consecutive days without rain could be considered a drought. Heck, even a rain delivering less than 0.5 inches would be nice. If it got to 50*, it was a heat wave.

The West Course greens had been aerated the previous day, so we played the East Course. East had been opened a week and the greens were aerated just before opening; thus their rating is low due to that. The Zoysia fairways were still brown and pretty soggy or had casual water. The traps: firm wet sand wet, some standing water. The lake on #18 was overflowing to the point that it was outside the marked hazard area by as much as 20 feet. Nothing that some warmer, drier weather wouldn't cure. Hopefully, that will happen before the Easter holiday. What was not weather/time of year related is the annoying condition of the cart parts. Potholes and patches in need of patches.

Course layout was forgiving, even with the 2-3 holes that are a bit more confined where they run through the woods. Fairway traps are virtually non-existent, water is in play but easily avoided.

Pro shop is large & well stocked. Grille prices are not price gouging for a resort area,

I wanted to play this course, having read and heard many good things about it. I just picked a bad day. I'll be back when the weather allows conditions to improve.

Played the East Course for the first time. Like the layout but it is very forgiving of bad shots. Fairways and rough are in decent shape in spite of recent rains. No standing water and not many wet spots. Traps are good with no standing water. Several greens are in pretty bad shape though, with numerous dead spots and several greens with mower tire marks. Good snack bar and greens fees are resonable with Tee Time Book ($39).

Been playing this course regularly since last year. Current conditions are very good on both West and East course. The East course can be a bit slow at times, but when the crowds are down - two great courses - good value.

There are a lot of options for golfers in the Ocean City area. The Bay Club fills a certain niche. It can't compete with some of the premium courses in the area, but there are good reasons to play here. Having 36 holes means you have some choice: The East course is a bit easier, with zoysia fairways giving nice, spongy lies; the West course is the better layout, with the island green #14 and the shared #9-#18 green with its over-water approach. Both courses have some tree-lined holes to give some break from the windy conditions that prevail at a lot of OC courses. Not our top choice when in the area, but the Bay Club does have enough going for it to make it worth the occasional play - not to mention saving some $$ compared to the upscale courses in the area.

This course was in great shape. The twighlight rate was only 20 bucks after 4pm. Can't beat that.

Great conditions, the grass is very spongy almost like a pillow, very different from any other course I have played on. The greens were in tip top shape as were the fairways. Definitely a good play if you are out in Ocean City
