Played Tuckahoe/Monocan nines (they have 3 nines). I played Tuckahoe first and this is my favorite nine out of all three. The first two holes are tough! The second is straight uphill and adds at least two clubs on your second shot. I love the grass on this nine--don't know what it is but your club slides right through without divots. Holes 5-9, I played in 1 under so really helped make up for the first two holes! Monocan was my back nine and it has a very different grass in the fairways...not my favorite as the slightest pressure dug it up at the roots. Plus, I had a maintenance guy follow me all around the course from hole #12-#17. I was playing as a single and he was just there...waiting and watching, which was a real pain. Don't know why he couldn't just pass me and move on, but it was a real distraction. In any event, 66 degrees and sunny, so was happy to get in another round in nice weather. Friendly staff, great pace of play (3.5 hours), and course in great shape. For $49, it was a bargain.

We went up to play Devils Knob (it was closed),so we played SC,pro shop guy charged us reg. rate, asked about discount online,he said it was a 24 hr. reserve....the place was dead? Since we couldn't play Devils,he wouldn't even give us VSGA rate,o well! Beautiful golf course though,in the valley so relatively flat for a mountain course, greens rolled phenomenal, fairways were nice, tee boxes and some of the rough needs some work.....Driving range and practice green could use some cosmetic work, pro shop just needs to work on their customer service skills!

Wintergreen golf courses are always in great shape. The two nines we played (Monocan/Shamokin) were in good shape, but one par 4 was played as a par 3 due to a sink hole repair, and many of the fairways had new patches of grass installed; otherwise I would have rated it as excellent. The staff is always pleasant and courteous, and the Grill has excellent food. The price for a holiday weekend ($63) was excellent. The only drawback was it was over a 5 hour round when it could have been 3.5-4 hours. It wasn't the course, but our pairing.
