Last day in Williamsburg and had the first tee time out on a Sunday morning. We set the pace and finished in under 4 hours. The course is in great shape--lots of attention to detail, i.e., landscaping, edging, mowing, and watering to keep everything green. Tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers in excellent shape. The greens were also in great shape and had nice speed, but I did notice a fair number of unrepaired pitch marks. This course has four of the most beautiful finishing holes--starting with a narrow par 5 (#15), a par 4 with the green down by the James River (#16), and numbers 17 and 18 right on the James (par 3 and par 4). This course is where the LPGA plays, and the conditions were still close to those standards, particularly the rough which is thick and punishing--you can easily not find your ball as it just sinks to the roots. It's a great course, so if you have a chance, take the time and play it. Kingsmill Resort has three courses and all are interesting and in excellent condition. The bar is great for food and drinks, and the staff is always welcoming.
