The Cardinal Golf Club, Fort Lee, VA / Semi-Private / Played 8 March 2014
Overview: The Cardinal Golf Club, located on the installation at U.S. Army Post Fort Lee, is a 27-hole facility (Red/White/Blue courses) located outside of Hopewell, Virginia. At 6,930 yards from the tips (White to Blue), get ready for a long layout and challenging shots off the tees including multiple carries over water and strategic layup shots both from the tees and into the greens. Bring your game to this course – or some extra golf balls. With big greens, fast speeds, with slopes throughout, get ready for a putting challenge as well. The Cardinal Golf Club is a semi-private course open only to those affiliated with the Department of Defense (DoD) or military services. The golf course welcomes the public but non-DoD affiliated personnel must be sponsored onto the course to be eligible to play. For more information on procedures, contact the Pro Shop at (804) 734-2899.

While the course has a good layout and for the most part the fairways and greens are ok they have a temp green in the middle of this season that should have been fixed years ago. The staff is not so courteous and they have some ridculous policies one which discourages parent from getting their youths interested in golf and double charges. What does it matter if I pay for a cart to play a round of golf and just happen to have my teenager with me who is not playing but wants to learn golf etiquette and the rules of the game. If I am playing a round of golf and the cart cost me $10.00 why should I have to pay another $10 cart fee to have my teenage daughter ride with me and learn about golf. I finally got her interested in golf and she practices hitting ball at home but wants to know the rule and about golf etiquette. Now she thinks that golf courses just want to charge extra and I hope she will still want to play.
With that said, again if I pay for a cart and someone joins in should they have to pay the same cart fee to ride along? What is the added cost to the golf course? The cart will be making the whole trip around the course regardless if I am by myself or someone rides along. So now the Cardinal Golf club is collecting two cart fees for the same cart. So if I am paying for a cart and I have a friend paying for a cart should we both take a cart out? The thing is that does not bother me as much as, maybe I shouldn’t take my teenager out anymore.
