Even though this course is a bit short (6712 tips and 6123 whites), it is a tough layout. Lots of elevation changes, left to rights and vice versa, strange bounces, narrow fairways/landing areas, and vegetation. After all, this is a mountain course with several holes at 3200 ft and above. The fairways are pristine and the edges and vegetation manicured beautifully. They recently aerated the tee boxes, and they are filling in nicely. The bunkers had great sand. The greens had to be a 12--they are undulating and fast, fast, fast. They are in the 3 and 4 putt arena, as well as several holes with false fronts...you hit the green and it rolls backwards into the fairway. Even with a weekend rack rate of $89, it is a wonderful experience to play this course. There are some beautiful holes, especially #15 with the condos on the ridge. The staff is also very nice here. Unfortunately, though, this course will be closing permanently to public play December 1, 2013. Only Wintergreen Resort guests and members will have access after that time. It's a great course, and there are another 27 in the valley associated with Wintergreen Resort which the public will have access to.
