Tiger Woods shot a final round 77 on Sunday to complete his worst tournament as a professional.  He finished the WGC Bridgestone Invitational 78th our 80 at 18 over par.  I don’t think anyone could have expected this kind of play from Tiger who has won this tournament seven out of 10 times and never finished worse then fourth.

“Shooting 18-over par is not fun,” Woods said afterward. “I don’t see how it can be fun shooting 18 over, especially since my handicap is supposed to be zero. … It’s tough. Yeah, it’s tough.”

Anthony Kim, who was last seen playing in the May at the Quail Hollow Tournament, has targeted next weeks WGC event at Firestone Country Club for his return.  The announcement came on Facebook, when he posted “will be back next week at the wgc…looking forward to bein back.”

He won the Houston Shell Open a month before his thumb injury became serious.  In early May, he decided to have surgery to repair a torn ligament on his left thumb.

With about three weeks to go before Whistling Straits gets set to host it’s second PGA Championship, mother nature has decided to throw a twist into their preparations. So far this summer, the Sheyoygan, Wisconsin area has had 15 days with more then a tenth of an inch of rain with three of those days exceeding an inch. Then came this past Thursday. A seven hour downpour that included a tornado watch left the course under water and Seven Mile Creek into the Mississippi River.

According to the championship director, Barry Deach, constructions crews have lost only one day during the preparations for the even. The superintendent, Chris Zugel, and his crew have a lot of work on their plate after Thursday’s storm, which washed out the faces of all a couple of the 967 bunkers on the course.
