The headline might be a little misleading but it makes for a little more suspense. The golfer involved in the newest sex scandal is Steve Thomas. Who? He played one season on the PGA Tour and had one top ten finish. His career earnings were $25,781. He was last seen playing on the Champions Tour in 2010.
The Osceola County, Florida, Sheriff’s department announced that Steve Thomas was among 40 suspects arrested in an underage sex sting operation.
Thomas was charged with traveling to seduce an underage girl and using a computer to entice a legal guardian or parent to commit sex acts on an underage girl.
His arrest affidavit states Thomas thought he was chatting with a woman about sex with her 13-year-old daughter. He agreed to meet the teen for sex, deputies say, and sent photos of himself golfing.
Investigators searched Thomas’ sport utility vehicle after his arrest, the affidavit states, finding three condoms, two packages of chocolate pudding and a bottle of honey. Deputies say he confessed.
Also arrested during the sex sting operation were an eighth grade teacher, eight college students, and a Gainesville swim instructor.
