Save Sligo Creek Golf Course
If you have driven along MD-Route 29 over the past few months enroute to I-495, then you would have noticed signs all over place saying “Save Sligo!” This little 9-hole golf course has received quite a bit of publicity over the past year or so, as the Montgomery County Revenue authority has threatened to shut it down. Sligo Creek is one of nine courses operated by Montgomery County Golf and last year news was released stating that Sligo was losing money which would force it to shut down. Instantly the community rallied around the golf course to keep it open. This proved successful as the city council voted 7-2 to keep the course open at least through June 30, 2010. Sligo Creek is a real treasure to the Silver Spring area as the course is always in great condition and offers golfers a great course to get a quick in 9 holes. SAVE SLIGO!
