When I went to bed on Saturday night, I knew Sunday was going to be a great day.  For one, my beloved Baltimore Ravens were finally playing again after an unexpected “bye week” due to Hurricane Ike and the resulting devastation to the Houston area.  Plus, a Ravens home game also means a Ravens tailgate, and since I’ve had an entire summer of eating Hot Dogs at the turn during my weekend morning rounds of golf, I felt very prepared for tailgating.  The game was at 4:15pm, but we set up shop at 10:00am — that’s right, over 6 hours of tailgating!  We had tons of food and booze and were having a great time, but things got even better around noon when we turned on the Ryder Cup to see if we could bring the Cup back to the US — where it belongs.

It started off with Anthony Kim knocking off Sergio Garcia, 5-and-4, setting the tone for the US Team.

Hunter Mahan halved his match while the Justin Leonard  and Phil Mickleson lost their matches, 5-and-3 and 3-and-2 respectively.

As the rest of the day played out, Kenny Perry, Boo Weekley, J.B. Holmes, Jim Furyk, Ben Curtis, and Chad Campbell all won their matches pushing the score to 16 1/2 to 11 1/2, giving the US their first win since 1999.

To top off the day, the Ravens destroyed the Browns and seeing the Steelers and Colts both lose was the icing on the cake!

Who says that you can’t enjoy both football and golf on any given Sunday?  Bring on the Steelers and the rest of the world!!!!!!
